  • Salary £50,000 - £55,000 DOE
  • 15% non-contributory pension plus a further 3% matched

The Diocese of Exeter is part of the Church of England and covers the whole of Devon. There are 595 churches in the diocese, many of them rural. An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Finance Manager to join the friendly team at the Dioceseof Exeter based at our Diocesan Offices in central Exeter. It is not a prerequisite to be a practicing Christian, but you must have an empathetic and understanding approach to the work and values of the ministry of the Church of England.The RoleThis is a truly exciting opportunity for the right candidate who is looking for long-term career progression working closely with the Finance Director & Other stakeholders gaining exposure to a variety of upcoming projects and hands on mentorship on theDiocesan functions.As Head of Finance you will report to the Finance Director and overseeing a team of 6 Finance professionals. Your overall role will be to oversee the operational financial management for several different subsidiary organisations, in addition to supportingthe parishes and various strategic funding programs.Duties will include:
  • Maintaining and developing the organisation`s financial management systems
  • Preparation and maintenance of budgets
  • Cashflow management
  • Management Accounts
  • Statutory Accounts
  • Provision of comprehensive financial advice and support to service managers
  • Staff development & mentoring
The PersonWe are seeking an ambitious, Fully qualified professional with a strong track record collaborating with Senior stakeholders. This is a great opportunity for a candidate who is confident in collaborating with non-finance teams, providing financial management,and delivering projects whilst providing hands-on line management. This role would be a great fit for a candidate who is ambitious and willing to learn.The Diocese offers flexible working conditions but equally requires a small level of flexible working outside of normal office hours.
