Job Description

Head of Estates Location: Police Headquarters, ExeterSalary: Starts at £63,837 rising by yearly increments to a maximum of £71,760 per annum*Opportunity to earn up to £80,000 (inclusive of market supplement. See Additional Information for details on salary and allowances) *The RoleThe Police cover some of the UK’s most beautiful countryside. They are the 4th largest force in the UK byarea and the largest in England. Reporting into the Devon & Cornwall Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner, as Head of Estates the successful candidatewill lead the strategic development of the force estate to meet the organisation’s business needs and associated aspects of service delivery.This role will involve leading on the capital programme covering major projects and larger planned maintenance works along with the day-to-day responsibilities for reactive maintenance and compliance. Currently, there are 10 direct reports and 37 staff workingwithin the department who operate throughout the force area.This role is essential in achieving the vision and aims of the force which are:

  • To support effective police services - having the right facilities and specialist requirements in their estate.
  • Visibility - ensuring accessibility and visibility to the public.
  • Safe and efficient estate for staff and visitors
What youll need to succeedA sound working knowledge of strategic estate management and proven ability to lead the provision of a similarly complex service is essential for the role.The successful candidate will share the Police’s purpose and values. Additional InformationThe salary range for this role is within Grade 12; the commencing annual salary is £63,837, rising by annual increments to a maximum of £71,760 per annum (pro rata). In addition, this role is currently eligible for a market supplement in addition to thebasic salary to reflect determined market conditions. This will take effect from 1st November 2023 and will be reviewed annually on or around the end of the financial year and is limited to a period of 36 months.
