Job Description

GROUP DESIGN ENGINEER / EXETER - PERMANENT VACANCYLocation: Sowton Industrial Estate, ExeterJob type: Permanent contractHours: Monday to Friday 08:00am - 16:30pmSalary: £27,500 - £28,500 per annumHawk 3 Talent Solutions, operating as an employment agency, are currently recruiting for a Group Design Engineer for our well-known manufacturing client based in Exeter.This role is currently based at Sowton Industrial Estate but does have plans to be moving to a brand-new purpose build premises at Skypark, near Exeter Airport, imminently.Duties as a Group Design Engineer:

      Work closely with the development, production engineering and design teams, taking a new product design brief from concept through to creating accurate detailed engineers manufacturing drawings.
Ensure that the drawn specifications allow heating products to fit together on the production line, taking into consideration appropriate material specification production tolerances.Ensure new product BOMs and xls spreadsheets are generated and kept up to date to allow Production Engineers to generate acute full and complete new product costings.New product progress feedback and sign off sheets are to be filled out and kept up to date to show the progress of new product development.Liaise with a number of departments to ensure the smooth running and production of items. These departments include:New Product/Production Engineers who will advise on the best assembly method taking into account where the parts are to be manufactured and assembled.Purchasing Department for timely production of drawings for quotation from various suppliers around the world. Also conducting various product design cost exercise.Utilise all elements of Solid Edge to create an extensive range of designs in various materials, including steel, cast iron, stone, glass and ceramic. These various materials are also used to create some highly decorative parts of the product so producingdrawings of these components is another key role.Working with Production to produce Press Brake folding simulations for the shop floor.About you:
      A strong new product design background
Proven experience working with Solid Edge, although consideration will be given to applicants with experience of Solid WorksA sound Design Engineering background with strong technical knowledgeExcellent written and verbal communication skillsWorking knowledge of Microsoft Office packagesCapable of creating good working relationshipsAbility to prioritize work using own initiativeBenefits:
