Job Description

A commercially astute, dynamic accountant is needed to join an established professional business at their head office in Exeter as the Finance Manager.This role provides a rare opportunity for a proactive accounting professional to truly make the accounts function your own.Finance Manager - The Role:As part of a friendly, dedicated senior management team and reporting to the Board, the Finance Manager is a crucial high-profile role where you will undertake all aspects of accounting duties from invoicing to providing financial insight at strategic levelincluding planning, policy and decision making.Duties will include:

  • Managing and mentoring the small finance team, allocating work and ensuring the smooth operation of the finance function including all aspects of transactional accounting including maintaining ledgers, credit control, journals, etc.
  • Responsible for month end and management accounts
  • Preparing and monitoring budgets and forecasts, monitoring financial performance and identifying areas of underperformance, variations from forecasts, investigating and reporting appropriately.
  • Cashflow management.
  • Maintaining and improving financial controls and ensuring efficient financial processes and procedures are in place.
  • Business partnering operational colleagues on improving processes and efficiencies, along with providing insight into financial performance.
  • As a key member of the Senior Management Team, contribute to strategic planning, policy and decision making.
  • Ensuring the provision of timely, insightful and accurate management information and financial reporting for the SMT.
  • Assisting the payroll function.
