Job Description

We are searching for an experienced Design Engineer for an exciting, successful and growing business based in East Devon. You will work within a team of Design Engineers, reporting to the Group Design Manager. You will be responsible for the support andthe design/specification of a range of products across the heating sector, along with any on-going enhancements or modifications of their current product range. You will be will be part of a key team that ensures new products successfully achieve their target launch dates.RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES

  • Work closely with the development, production engineering and design teams, taking a new product design brief from concept through to creating accurate detailed engineers manufacturing drawings.
  • Ensure that the drawn specifications allow heating products to fit together on the production line, taking into consideration appropriate material specification and production tolerances.
  • Ensure new product BOMs and spreadsheets are generated and kept up to date to allow Production Engineers to generate acute full and complete new product costings.
  • New product progress feedback and sign off sheets are to be filled out and kept up to date to show the progress of new product development.
  • Consult with other departments to ensure the smooth running and production of items.
  • Use all elements of Solid Edge to create an extensive range of designs in various materials, including steel, cast iron, stone, glass and ceramic.
  • Working with Production to produce Press Brake folding simulations for the shop-floor.
  • A strong new product design background is highly desirable.
  • Proven experience of working with Solid Edge (consideration will be given to individuals who have used Solid Works experience).
  • A sound Design Engineering background with strong technical knowledge.
  • Folding simulation software experience is desirable but is not essential.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate continuous learning.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft office packages to intermediate level.
  • Be able to work to set standards and procedures in an ISO9001:2000 registered company.
  • Capable of building good working relationships with people at all levels.
  • Structured, organised individual.
  • Proactive self-starter.
  • Ability to prioritise and work, using own initiative.
Working hours are 38.75 (Mon - Fri) and the role is predominately office-based/site-based, with flexible working options.
