Job Description

Sovereign is introducing some exciting new roles as it launches a Customer Support Fund of 1.5m per year to provide additional services for customers. As part of our commitment to build thriving Communities the Customer Support Fund will allow us to deliverservices including Grants for residents, Energy Support, Job Coaching, Money Coaching and Money and Debt advice. Youll have the opportunity to join a business that puts customers at the heart of all we do and shape one of the largest programmes being deliveredto support people through the cost of living crisis.We have an opportunity to join our brand-new Debt Advice Team on a Fixed Term Contracts until March 2024.This role will follow our hybrid approach of home, office and resident visit working. You will be covering the Devon area.The starting salary is £32,000 - £34,500 depending on experience and qualifications.The Role:This is an exciting opportunity to support the creation of a brand-new Debt Advice Service, getting involved at the very beginning to shape and mould the offer, whilst also providing comprehensive Debt and Money Advice to residents on a day-to-day basis.You will take a holistic view of a residents debts and financial circumstances. Working closely with some of our more established teams and newly created roles to deliver a well-rounded holistic support service tailored to our residents to ultimately supportwith Sustaining Tenancies and to improving residents financial situation.Key responsibilities:

  • Deliver accurate and up to date Debt and Money Advice within FCA guidelines
  • Assist residents to prepare financial statements.
  • Take a proactive and explorative approach to obtaining and understanding information
  • Assist residents by negotiating by letter or telephone with creditors and other agencies e.g., fuel companies, local authorities, DWP and consumer credit companies etc
  • Negotiate with third parties, including statutory and non-statutory organisations where required
  • Prepare and present cases to the necessary statutory bodies and negotiate with third parties as appropriate
  • Assist clients with other associated problems, referring to other advisers/agencies
  • Provide advice and signposting towards, training or employment, linking up with internal and external specialists to assist
  • Maintain accurate records of cases, in line with policy, procedure and legislation
Your experience:To be considered for this role, youll need:A MaPs Accredited Debt Advice Qualification to Specialist/Caseworker Level (Certificate of Money Advice with Institute of Money Advisers or Community Money Advice Level 4 Award in Debt Advice) or; a drive and motivation to complete such a qualification.Recent or current experience working in a similar role, providing advice and guidanceThe ability to build rapport with great communication, and engagement skillsA proactive approach, with the ability to manage multiple cases at onceYour benefits:Youll be given the opportunity to grow your skills within a role that will bring great satisfaction.
