Job Description

Job Title: Assistant EcologistLocation: ExeterSalary: £23,000 - £27,000Do you love the natural environment and want to have a purposeful Ecology career If so, you might be the perfect fit for our Assistant Ecologist position. You will work alongside a team of experts in Ecology, Landscape, Arboriculture and Urban Design inExeter, but your work will take you over Somerset, Southwest and further afield. You will work on a range of exciting and challenging projects across the UK, gaining invaluable experience and skills. As an Assistant Ecologist you will need to show the following:
  • Demonstrate a keen interest in ecology and conservation
  • Record field data reliably and accurately to a high standard
  • Communicate well and work effectively as part of a team
  • Be familiar with wildlife legislation within the UK and have a basic understanding of the planning system and planning policy guidance
  • Have a full driving licence and access to a vehicle
  • Have or be working towards a qualification in an environmental subject
  • Be proficient with software such as QGIS (desirable)
  • Have experience of undertaking UK habitat and/or protected species surveys (desirable)
  • Have a good understanding of British native species, wildlife legislation and planning policy relating to ecology
  • Be a member of CIEEM
