Job Description

Hedges Direct Ltd has an opportunity for Warehouse Operativesto join the team based in Euxton. You will join us on a full time, permanent basis and in return, you will receive a competitive salary of £9.26 per hour.Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Saturday working shifts of 7.30am to 4.30pm and 8.30am to 5.30pm (alternate weeks). Saturday shifts will be occasional depending on the needs of the business.About us:Hedges Direct Ltd are online hedging specialists, with decades of industry experience and a culture firmly focused on quality and service. We supply large quantities of hedging to landscapers, garden designers, builders, hotels, pub chains also a significant proportion to retail customers across the UK and parts of Europe.The Warehouse Operatives role:Due to continued company growth, we are looking for two Warehouse Operatives to join our growing Nursery and Dispatch Team. You will be working at our busy Nursery Site in Euxton and will be part of our picking and packing operation and help to maintain our high standards of customer service. You will be provided with full on the job training for this role and for the right candidate there are opportunities to learn and progress.Key responsibilities as our Warehouse Operatives:- Picking – Using our John Deer Gators with attached trailers to pick the stock required for customers’ orders from our plant beds and deliver the stock to the packing department.- Packing – Accurately packing customer orders in either boxes or pallets and preparing them for dispatch, ensuring all products sent meet our high standards.- Loading and Unloading - loading and unloading delivery and collection vehicles in a safe and accurate manner. This can either be by hand for example when we load customer orders packed in boxes onto the courier vehicles or using a forklift truck when pallets of plants are delivered or sent out.- Goods inwards – checking that all incoming stock is correct and is the correct quality. Reporting and damaged or missing stock to the Nursery Manager. Standing down or storing stock in the correct areas.- Stock Takes – Prepare for and participate in regular stock takes. It is essential that all stock takes are accurate and therefore it is essential that the candidate has good numeracy skills.- Daily Checks - Carrying out daily checks on all vehicles and equipment before use- Plant care – Maintain the living stock we have on site and reporting any problems to the Nursery Manager- Health and Safety – We are committed to keeping everyone in our business safe, therefore it is essential that the candidate adheres to health and safety procedures at all times.- Maintain a neat and tidy warehouse at all times- Other ad hoc warehouse dutiesSkills and experience required for our Warehouse Operatives:- Good literacy and numeracy skills are essential for this role- Confident personality with a can-do attitude- Impeccable attention to detail- A pro-active person who will use their initiative- A self-starter with a willingness to learn- Excellent organisational skills- Experience in warehouse or fast paced distribution environments would be desirable- Experience, knowledge or an interest in horticulture would be advantageousBenefits of becoming our Warehouse Operatives:- 28 days holiday (including Bank Holidays and extended Xmas break)- Company incentive scheme- Company social events- Free tea and coffee- Auto enrolment pension scheme- Free on-site car parking- Voluntary overtime available during peak periods (paid at time and a half)- Training Opportunities- An extra days holiday for your birthday- Regular team treats e.g. Chippy van or team breakfastsIf you feel you have the required skills and experience to join us as our Warehouse Operatives, please click ‘apply’ now, we’d love to hear from you!
