Job Description

Reed are currently recruiting for a leading membership organisation for a temporary Governance officerfor a minimum of three months to work within the general secretariat as a general manager.We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and dynamic individual to manage all aspects of the work of the general secretariat, a role which is critical to the effective governance.To manage the office of the Secretariatso they can effectively fulfil all aspects of their elected role providing leadership on the governance of RCGP.• To allocate incoming correspondence and e-mail’s requiring secretariatdecisions to the appropriate individual or respond directly to take forward priorities as appropriate.• To co-ordinate the work of the secretariat, track progress on priorities, liaise with relevant college leads to resolve outstanding issues and advise on handling arrangements.• To prepare responses to Hon Sec correspondence including those received from MPs, , Coroners and concerned patients – arranging for specialist clinical contributions where necessary.• To manage the representatives programme of work, including commissioning rep assignments, arranging for briefings from policy teams, monitoring progress, analysis and quality assurance of work reports and making sure outputs are shared• To prepare draft agendas and supporting documentation for meetings, and to minute meetings as required ensuring they are well organised and run smoothly.• To ensure that those you supportare fully briefed and prepared to attend meetings both within the College and externally.• To manage the casework for complaints made under the Code of Conduct – working closely with the Company Secretary to ensure correspondence and meetings progress in compliance with agreed timetables.• Quality assure formal Endorsement requests and carry out research into background, highlighting potential issues of controversy• Provide weekly business summaries to Hon Secs and College teams.• Line manage the business administration apprentice who provides diary, travel and business administration f• Manage significant budgets so that all expenditure and claims are processed within agreed service standards and accurate forecasting of expenditure made.
