Job Title: Systems Engineer (T3E)Duration: 12 months - 24 monthsLocation: Shoeburyness as home-site Working Model: Hybrid where travel is required at least 2 times every 2 weeks.Inside IR35 via Umbrella - up to £80 hourly rate available**Active SC clearance is required to start this contract - contractors should ideally have a car/driving licenseRole PurposeLead the through-life technical delivery and systems engineering activity for projects or work packages developments that underpin Test, Trials, Training and Evaluation (T3E) activityYou will largely work on projects that draw on existing technical expertise, whilst broadening systems engineering competencies and personal leadership skill sets. As senior engineer there is scope to develop either deeper Subject Matter Expertise, Systemor Platform specialism and or Technical leadership and Systems skills.You will work in conjunction with project manager and lead multi-disciplinary teams on projects with support of broader technical community. You will contribute to development of best practice and growth of capability around you, mentoring and learning fromothers.Key Accountabilities

1. Lead the technical delivery of T&E Systems projects or major work packages to time, cost and quality, working closely with project manager.
2. Deliver systems engineering artefacts through project life; technical proposals, requirements gathering, solution definition, solution implementation, system integration, test, certification, acceptance and transition into service.
3. Engage with engineering, operations, range, as well as other appropriate internal (T3E, IT, Property, Procurement) and external stakeholders (MOD, Suppliers) as needed to elicit, develop and refine requirements, lead solution implementation and manage technicalrisk.
4. Tailor lifecycle and engineering governance approach in consultation with Chief Engineer / representative; identifying critical safety and security elements early in lifecycle.
5. Lead assurance events, report technical progress and be the project technical point of contact.
6. Produce supplier technical statements of work, tendering documents and acceptance criteria, as appropriate.
7. Identify, collate, update and communicate technical risk, and opportunities, escalating and mitigating in timely manner.
8. Identify and deliver against appropriate regulatory, legal, safety and other engineering requirements and standards, with a well bounded and evidenced solution.
9. Plan and deliver complicated integration, installation and acceptance activity, working with project stakeholder community and the needs of the range/site enterprise (eg SCIDA), including IT, Safety and Security systems
10. Mentor others with less experience, impacting technical capability growth and development of best practice.
11. Support the System Design Authority in reviewing interfaces and compliance, or Act as, where appointed.

Key Capabilities/Knowledge

1. Awareness of Range operations /T&E facilities and the systems, roles and responsibilities that enable them.
2. Ability to plan and deliver engineering outputs that include safety-critical and safety-related functions
3. Ability to lead projects/work packages including facilities, equipment, control systems, communication systems, software and IT
4. Knowledge of appropriate engineering standards and regulatory requirements, with an ability to rapidly assimilate, understand and apply to the project / proposal in hand.
5. Knowledge of, or ability to rapidly assimilate (dependent on project / range /T3E facility):
   • Construction, Design & Management, 2015 approach
   • SCIDA (Site co-ordinating installation design authority) requirements
   • Handling of Ordnance Munitions and Explosives and safety approaches
   • Explosive regulation ER 2014, DSA 03 OME part 2
   • RIBA stage gates for projects involving construction partners

1. A sound understanding of systems engineering its applicability, lifecycle processes, and systems considerations together with sound understanding of wider engineering and engineering management considerations
2. Able to identify and manage complexity with appropriate techniques in order to reduce risk
3. Able to identify, conceive, review, and judge the suitability of systems solutions
4. Able to plan and oversee a transition to operation activity
5. Able to manage multidisciplinary teams of engineers and scientists and a broad range of internal and external stakeholders whilst building and maintaining excellent relationships.
6. Proactively anticipates potential problems and deals with barriers
7. Good negotiation and presentation skills

Experience & Qualification

1. Demonstrable experience of leading multi-disciplinary project or work packages through engineering lifecycle
2. Demonstrable experience of authoring systems engineering artefacts and delivering certified outcomes.
3. Prior experience in a relevant engineering discipline, and ambition to broaden / deepen expertise.
4. Degree Level qualification or equivalent experience
5. CEng or equivalent
