Job Description

Job Title: Shift Manager Location: Essex (Based in Dartford until March 2021) Salary: £25,000- £30,000 DOEWe are currently recruiting for a Shift Manager to join our clients new state of the art ripening facility based in Essex on a permanent basis. The role will be based at Dartford, Kent until March 2021.Our client is a leading banana ripening and service provision supplier in the UK market with two ripening facilities strategically placed in the north and south of the country.They are committed to a strong and consistent CSR policy with over 18,000 employees, producing over 460,000 tonnes of fruit and vegetables, distributing over 673,000 tonnes of bananas and selling to over 45 countries globally.The key duties of the role will include:

  • To take responsibility for the smooth running of the day to day aspects of the packhouse/warehouse and be able to fulfil all tasks within the production area to include delegation of tasks amongst your teams.
  • Effectively manage agency staff requirements for the next day and order the number from the recruitment agency to ensure production requirements are met.
  • Ensure the packing lines are packing to the required efficiency set out by the agreed KPI for each packing job and ensure all production time is effectively managed.
  • People management activity such as absence management, training, development, reviews, recruitment and disciplinaries.

  • Experience of managing within a production environment
  • Proven ability of effectively managing staff
  • Strong communication
  • Excellent knowledge of health and safety requirements
