Job Description

Chief Executive of a not-for-profit organisation.Based in Essex.Client DetailsNot-for-profit organisation which was formed in 1965.DescriptionThis is a newly formed role.You will have experience of overseeing Finance, Risk management and Business Development and helping to devise, develop and deliver a comprehensive plan for growth. The Chief Executive will have the main overarching duty to set the strategic direction for the organisation; leading the work to develop and oversee the BVNAs strategy.Key Duties & Responsibilities;

  • Strategic business development - both concept and delivery
  • Financial compliance and managing/creating budgets, working with the heads of department
  • Act as a conduit between council and BVNA staff members
  • Support Council members and officers to ensure efficient working between executive and non- executive functions
  • Line manage direct reports
  • Lead auditing and continuous improvement around organisational understanding of and implementation of corporate governance to include supporting documentation and policies (supported by the Policy Officer)
  • Responsible for Auditing, Continuity and Risk Management
  • Oversee development of new Council Processes and protocols
  • Ultimate Strategic oversight for the annual events programme including our anual Congress headline event
  • Policy review for both Council and staff
  • Focus on staff development and helping BVNA to be viewed as an outstanding organisation to work for
  • Innovate and offer new ideas and approaches for developing BVNA, building relationships with relevant corporate partners, government, media and BVNA members
  • Monitor and review strategic financial development of the organisation including continuous improvement around information reporting
  • Overall responsibility for the BVNAs Business Plan & Organisational Strategy
  • Ensure that financial targets and other agreed targets are met within the team
  • Continually review working practices to ascertain if it is successful and if not, devise an alternative
  • Ensure relevant health and safety regulations are followed
  • Plan and control change within the organisation
  • Keep employees motivated and organise appropriate training
  • Ensure the business operates within the companys mission statement
  • Deliver a high quality, customer focused service through strong leadership of team
  • Ensure maximum compliance with predetermined Service Level Agreements with our clients
  • Investigate membership satisfaction and resolve any issues via a strategic approach - monitor and drive continuous improvement of the membership experience by supporting Head of Membership to identity and implement improvements and best practice. Including ensuring that CRM is being utilised to its maximum capability and always in line with GDPR requirements
  • Drive the business to increase profits
  • Work with key stakeholders and our external professional advisers
  • Preferred SkillsAbility to analyse and strategically manage budgets and accounts. Understanding of financial compliance, reporting and best practice. Risk management. Knowledge of corporate governance procedures. Leadership and team management. Strong People skills including the ability to support and motivate others.
