Job Description

RECRUITMENTiQ is working with a long-established rehab clinic based in the West of Scotland to assist with their recruitment of an experiencedTherapist.Job PurposeAs a Therapist, you will be responsible for the day-to-day delivery of a high-quality therapeutic recovery programme. The rehabilitation of clients with substance use and addictive behaviours issues is our primary purpose and this involves structured psychosocialinterventions in a safe environment. As Addictions Recovery Therapist, you will take care of delivering a structured therapeutic programme through group-work sessions and one to one intervention.You will be responsible for contributing to regular reviews of the client with community addiction teams, probation (where appropriate) and health workers or other relevant agencies. Therapists will also maintain records of attendance and participation ingroup programmes, help clients to address their substance use and problem behaviours through pre-agreed action plans and methods. Among other responsibilities, they are also expected to bring a positive, compassionate, and proactive approach to the treatmentprogramme through recognised methodologies and practices. Treatment is individually tailored for our clients which includes robust risk management, recovery care planning and aftercare.Key Accountabilities

  • Identify knowledge and skill deficits in existing practice and contribute to your own personal development in liaison with the therapeutic lead.
  • Demonstrate an interest in addiction/recovery and maintain an up-to-date knowledge of research and development in addiction research, approaches and interventions.
  • Contribute to and participate in training programmes for the recovery practitioner team, including assessment for vocational qualifications.
  • Participate in training and educational activities provided to ensure your professional practice is maintained at the highest level.
  • Ensure that your professional knowledge and skills are appropriate to your work and satisfy the requirements of relevant professional registration bodies.
  • Regularly review new sources of information and knowledge which contribute to the quality of individual and collective service delivery.
  • Prepare and contribute constructively to supervision support.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
  • Knowledge of basic: English, arithmetic and IT skills.
  • Knowledge of the principles of recovery and challenges faced by those seeking recovery.
  • Knowledge of the Abbeycare approach to recovery promoting abstinence utilising the 12-step approach and CBT model.
  • Knowledge of basic physical, emotional, mental, physical and spiritual difficulties common to assisting those through recovery from addiction.
  • Knowledge, understanding and practice in line with national and recovery care standards and counselling best practice.
  • Knowledge of, and skills in the use of a range of methods of psychological assessment, intervention, and management for the full range of problems of severity and complexity presented in adult mental health, including challenging behaviours.
  • Experience of direct work with substance-using clients or those with addictive behaviours

  • A current driving licence is essential.
  • Experience of direct work with substance-using clients or those with addictive behaviours
  • Two years experience of direct client work with at least one years experience of working with addiction in a therapeutic setting
  • Skilled at building and maintaining effective therapeutic relationships
  • Experience in developing and delivering therapeutic support programmes
  • Understanding and experience of the main therapeutic interventions utilised within the Abbeycare programme CBT & 12 steps.
  • Experience in providing direct client services particularly assessment, group work and one to one counselling.
  • An understanding and experience of underlying issues associated with substance use such as past trauma, loss, grief, co-dependency, anxiety, and depression
  • Experience of working in partnership with a range of statutory and non-statutory agencies
  • Proven skills in planning and administration.
  • Ability and willingness to develop the treatment programme to suit client needs.
  • Confidence to work on own initiative as well as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Understanding of the importance of upholding quality standards, performance monitoring and collating appropriate statistical information for purchasers.
  • Knowledge of health and safety, including assessing high-risk situations for clients, safeguardingadult and child protection.
  • Demonstrate the ability to effectively work with people regardless of their ethnic, cultural, social backgrounds, gender, age, religious belief, disability, and sexual orientation
  • Commitment to support Abbeycare values and mission statement
  • Participate in supervision and appraisal
  • Experience in providing training to fellow professionals
  • Ability to respond flexibly to the demands of the post
  • Ability to make a personal investment in the development and success of the business.
  • A professional qualification in counselling.
  • Professional membership of BACP/BABCP or equivalent
