Job Description

Annual salary: up to £35,000.00 6 Month Contract Full Time – £35,000 per annum - 42.5 hours per week. We are now looking to recruit a Multi Skilled Operative to be based at our site in Newham - East London.Part of a local team undertaking high standard Maintenance repairs and refurbishment activities to Housing properties, delivering best in class customer service and satisfying all safety, quality and cost control standards.Who are weWe provide Housing Management services right across the UK. We work in partnership with Central and Local Government, registered providers, tenants, landlords and investors to find solutions to homelessness, provide more social and affordable housing and create specialist housing for people with care needs.At Mears Living, we work with more than 50 Local Authority partners and manage around 6,000 properties across the UK.We are trusted to provide homes for some of the most vulnerable people in the UK on behalf of our partners and through our own landlord business and registered providers - Plexus and Omega Housing.What we are looking for:Over the past 12 months, we have created our own "in house" repairs and maintenance team who work across the UK to provide a first-class service to our customers. We are now expanding this team further and looking to hire a skilled Multi Skilled Operative. You will be working on individual jobs carrying out repairs and rectifying any defects to ensure our clients receive a high-quality service.What you need to have:

  • You will have a certified core trades ideally, joinery and plumbing, however, depending on experience / contractual requirements we will consider one core trade if you have experience in tiling, plastering and decorating. in support of completing repair/refurbishment works on time and to a high standard in accordance with agreed standard operating procedures.
  • Take ownership in undertaking construction, fault finding and maintenance repairs aiming for a first time completion whilst remaining within budget and time parameters.
  • Ensure that the customer experience is central to all activities by adopting a professional manner when communicating with service users, clients, and both internal/external stakeholders This includes but is not limited to appearance, company ID,
  • condition of vehicles and maintaining a high standard of Health & Safety requirements. It may be necessary where requested to obtain customer feedback on completion of works.
  • Process all activities in association with tasks/works electronically utilising a hand held device (PDA). This includes, but not limited to, worksheets, timesheets, photographic evidence of works before / during / after, van stock replenishment, booking of annual leave, vehicle inspections, safeguarding issues, risk assessments and method statements.
  • Keep all supplied company assets in a good condition in line with the company policies and report to your Supervisor/Manager where damages occur.
  • Utilise existing stock or collect materials as and when required to meet works order requirements, in accordance with standard operating procedures for purchasing and van stock control compliance.
  • Attend informal and formal meetings and training sessions as required.
  • Participate in call out cover if and when required to ensure contract compliance & service user satisfaction for emergency repairs.
