Job Description

RSR Police is a market leading recruitment business dedicated to supplying experienced practitioners on a temporary, contractual or permanent basis to the Law Enforcement, Cyber Security, Offender Management and Regulatory Services talent markets.RSR Police are currently recruiting for a School Liaison Officer to join one of their clients to provide a link between schools and policing, to facilitate and support the early identification and access to interventions and diversion work of children vulnerable to serious violence and child criminal exploitation. This role will be working directly with Neighbourhood Policing Areas (NPAs) and the Serious Crime Safeguarding Hub to share information, identify safeguarding concerns and problem-solve the issues with schools and other partnersThis is a contract role for an initial 6 months with the potential to be extended, based in the St John’s area or Leicestershire working Monday to Friday. This role pays £13.58 per hour PAYE.Main Duties:

  • Liaise with police colleagues in particular Neighbourhood Policing and Serious Crime staff to understand and respond to emerging local threats relating to serious violence and child criminal exploitation to reduce child vulnerability and crime
  • Liaise with school staff to understand and respond to emerging threats and crime activity in and around schools to reduce child vulnerability and crime
  • Expeditiously communicate safeguarding concerns in line with Working Together to Safeguard Children through the appropriate persons, internal departments, schools and partners
  • On receipt of information regarding a child of concern complete a comprehensive check of Police databases (e.g. PNC, Niche, Genie, Webstorm, PND, Custody)
  • Gather information or intelligence held relating to a child, relevant family members and /or addresses, to assist understanding of their vulnerability
  • Manage disclosure of information and intelligence appropriately with schools and partners
  • Co-ordinate all information gathered in order to present to relevant police colleagues / schools / multi-agency meetings to aid decision making in the best interests of the child
  • Actively develop and engage in problem solving and decision making processes to reduce risk and increase protective factors for children vulnerable to serious violence (victim and offender) and child criminal exploitation to prevent and reduce crime
  • Work with NPAs to effectively manage Neighbourhood Managed Offenders (NOMs), who are children, through a coordinated multi-agency approach to identify opportunities to safeguard and support
  • To produce concise, detailed and accurate reports including risk assessments and recommendations as required
  • Analyse any documentation received and escalate any intelligence onto NICHE that may assist in preventing harm to children or in the prevention or detection of crime, for effective dissemination
  • Essential Requirements:
  • Experience of working within a confidential environment.
  • Ability to compile data into report format accurately and concisely by researching IT systems and other means as appropriate and display good analytical skills
  • Ability to plan and organise own workloads in a busy pressurised environment and limited supervision.
  • Ability to use initiative and creativity, particularly in problem solving within a multi-agency partnership context
  • Effective communication skills on all levels both verbally and in writing, and possess excellent listening skills
  • Ability to deal with conflict, calmly and effectively
  • Resilience in representation and the ability to resolve conflict.
  • Experience of liaison with partner agencies
  • Clean UK driving licence and use of a vehicle
  • An understanding of government guidance Working Together to Safeguard Children 2018
  • Previous policing experience, or an understanding of policing practices.
  • Experience of working in, or an understanding of child protection and safeguarding.
  • Understanding of data protection legislation when handling information
  • Previous knowledge of databases such as CATs, NICHE, Genie, Insight, WEBSTORM, PND and Custody
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation (i.e. ECHR, RIPA, Data Protection).
