Job Description

Reed is seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Religious Studies Teacher to join our esteemed institution. This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated individual to inspire and educate students in the field of religious studies. As a Religious StudiesTeacher, you will play a vital role in shaping young minds, fostering critical thinking, and promoting cultural understanding.Position: Religious Studies TeacherLocation - Witchford, Ely, Littleport, Cambridge, St IvesSalary information: MPR / UPR; £33,053 - £47560 per annumContract type: Full-time, permanentStart date: September 2023Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver engaging lesson plans that align with the curriculum and educational standards.
  • Teach students about various religious traditions, beliefs, and practices, while encouraging open dialogue and respect for diverse perspectives.
  • Create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment where students feel comfortable expressing their thoughts and opinions.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to students, offering academic and pastoral support as needed.
  • Evaluate student progress through assignments, examinations, and classroom participation, providing constructive feedback to facilitate growth.
  • Organize and lead extracurricular activities related to religious studies, such as field trips, guest speakers, or student clubs.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary projects and initiatives that enhance students understanding of religious studies in a broader context.
  • Stay updated with current trends and research in the field of religious studies, incorporating relevant content into the curriculum.
  • Foster a safe and respectful learning environment, adhering to the institutions policies and promoting ethical conduct among students.
Qualifications:
  • QTS, QTLS, PGCE or bachelor’s degree in religious studies, Theology, or a related field.
  • This post is suitable for an experienced Teacher or an ECT.
  • Teaching certification or licensure (or currently pursuing certification).
  • Previous experience teaching religious studies, or a related subject is desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of major world religions, religious texts, and religious history.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students.
  • Demonstrated cultural sensitivity and respect for diverse beliefs and backgrounds.
  • Proficient in using educational technology and resources to enhance teaching and learning.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage time effectively.
  • Commitment to professional development and continuous learning.
