Job Description

Are you a qualified accountant Do you come from a manufacturing background with experience of working for different subsidiaries or different companies under a parent umbrella Would you like a role where you are in control of all financial matters, includingoverseeing financial operations, risk management and profit generation If yes, then this could be the role for you!Reporting to the Board of Directors you will manage a small team, developing efficient and effective best practice approaches to financial policies, procedures, and processes.In return you will get:

Duties & Responsibilities of the Group Financial Controller:
  • Producing annual accounts and budgets
  • Preparation, review, and presentation of monthly management accounts, including variance analysis and KPIs.
  • Leading detailed project accounting and analysis
  • Detailed cash flow forecasts and cash management
  • Responsibility for all financial systems to ensure critical business reports and data are delivered to schedule.
  • Taking a lead role in developing, implementing, analysing, maintaining, and presenting strategic business and financial plans
  • Organising working capital finance including letters of credit, bonds & working capital
  • Responsibility for insurance, tax, auditor liaison and interaction with other advisors.
  • Monitor issues of financial risk including currency exposure, supervising relations with suppliers and purchasers, VAT compliance, payroll, and credit control.
  • Own and develop a standard costing system to cope with the complexities of an expanding manufacturing organisation.
  • Develop financial forecasts for production and inventory.
  • Implement full production variance accounting.
  • Commercially assess NPI programmes
  • Support with systems, processes and reporting developments relating to production and inventory.
  • Support with preparation of the annual manufacturing budget.
  • Monitor, analyse and report on the impact of price / cost changes within the business.
  • Financial support for future acquisitions and integrations
What you will need to succeed as Group Financial Controller:
  • A solid accountancy background working at a senior level with strong experience in group accounting.
  • Ideally be a qualified accountant (ACA, CIMA and ACCA) or qualified by experience.
  • Experience working with external auditors and able to take the lead
  • Commercially driven with sound financial knowledge with a vision towards future growth
  • Experience of handling multi-currency cross border accounting
  • Be a strong communicator who can interact with Senior Management and non-finance.
  • Knowledge of discounted cash flow and assessment of NPV for various LOB’s (life of businesses) within a firm.
  • Good working knowledge and understanding of product accounting which will include cash flow, invoicing, expediting the process of invoices and timely chasing them, and invoice control
  • Must have experience of performance management for small team.
  • Have excellent working knowledge of Sage 200 including experience of the project accounting module. This will include report against projects i.e. P&L of the project, project environment and environment hold stock.
  • Good knowledge of MRP / ERP systems would be highly advantageous and essential.
  • A good knowledge of supplier invoice, purchase order invoices and rejections
  • Stock accounting experience which includes stock audit coordination, comparing the stock numbers to the accounting systems, carrying out stock adjustments and values
  • Familiarity with research projects and R&D tax relief and experience of managing tangible and intangible asset in R&D based engineering firm and the suitable capitalisation / amortisation of assets.
