Job Description

Job Title- Power & Control Maintenance TechnicianLocation – Ellesmere Port, CheshireEmployment typeContract role (PAYE or Limited will be considered) or permanent.Decent hourly rates/ salary on offer.40 hours per weekBased at the Chemical site 5 days per week. Hybrid not possible due to the nature of the role.An incredible new opportunity has arisen to have the chance of working alongside an expert team of chemical technicians working on key projects across the UK and world helping to support the maintenance of key projects. The need is for you as a power and controlmaintenance technician is to help support the manufacturing group to help maintain all site safety asset requirements ensuring all goals are effectively met.

If the answer is yes, and these apply to you then proceed on to find out more and get in touch now to avoid missing out!The opportunityAs a power and control maintenance technician, you will provide your support to the Manufacturing group with a high level of expertise to maintain assets safely and contribute to production targets to being met. To undertake all routines necessary to maintainthe asset reliability and to ensure conformance with all statutory, mandatory, and regulatory bodies.Qualifications:
  • BTEC (HNC), City and guilds or NVQ (Level 3) or equivalent in relevant discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years post apprenticeship experience preferably working on a top tier COMAH site. CompEX trained.
  • Managing and working to current legislation with high hazard substances including asbestos and lead.
  • Computer literate- dynamics AX, Microsoft Office
Your Duties and responsibilities will be:As a Power and Control Maintenance Technician you will be responsible for:
  • You will respond to planned and reactive maintenance of equipment.
  • Install repair and maintain power, lighting, communications, and control systems.
  • Conform to appropriate 18th Edition IEE wiring regulations regarding installation of equipment.
  • Ability to test, calibrate, install, repair, and inspect monitoring and control devices.
  • Diagnose and trouble shoot process control software issues.
  • Test and calibrate spring loaded safety valves.
  • Testing of safety equipment and interlocks
  • Methodical fault finding and diagnostic skills for various plant assets.
  • Understanding of the requirements of IEC61508/615 (SIF)
  • Use excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Operate to highest compliance standards.
  • Test equipment and determine whether components of the system are fit for purpose.
  • Fault finding on equipment up to 415v.
  • Apply strict standards when working on electrical equipment in hazardous areas.
  • Use of appropriate instruments for diagnostic purposes.
  • Operation of alignment equipment.
Your input
  • The role will necessitate working outside of core skills so you will be required to take a flexible approach.
  • You will help develop Apprentices overall competency in required areas.
  • Work outside of normal operating/office hours (reactive maintenance on shift)
  • Recognise and report threats due to equipment defects.
  • Works in adherence to the Weekly Schedule
  • Responds to Maintenance Team Leader for all aspects of work control and planning.
  • You will be required to work in conformance with all site procedures and standards.
  • Provides expertise in all areas within core skills.
  • Carries out all duties in conformance with statutory and Company quality, safety, health and environmental regulations and standards.
  • You will partake in all departmental and site initiatives (safety, efficiency, and improvements).
  • Ensure that a work order, risk assessment and method statements are produced for each activity and that all documents are completed and returned for archiving.
  • You will manage and maintain P&C records.
Job Conditions
  • You will maintain a high level of housekeeping within plant and workshop areas.
  • When necessary, work on plant in all weathers.
  • Awareness of all chemicals on site, particularly toxic and flammable.
  • You will understand the Basis of Safety (BoS) and mitigation measures to prevent a MATTE or MAH
  • Troubleshoot complex E&I problems.
  • You will maintain a high level of competence within relevant discipline.
  • Methodical fault finding and diagnostic skills for various plant assets.
  • Understanding of the requirements of IEC61508/615 (SIF)
  • Use excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
