The role and responsibilities of an Infrastructure Engineer:The IT Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for day-to-day support of all AdviserPlus Cloud infrastructure (with some on prem) and Applications to ensure a high-quality IT service to both internal and external clients.The role involves troubleshooting problems, planning changes, proactively handling service desk requests (SDRs), analysing logs, researching new technology or fixes, analysis and identification of solutions to problems. The Infrastructure Engineer is alsoresponsible for maintaining system documentation. All this while keeping an eye on our return on investment, This role also includes:
  • Monitoring live Cloud based systems for performance, security, and capacity issue.
  • Design, build and implement Cloud and M365 solutions
  • Day to day Cloud resource and network management, both on-prem and cloud hosted
  • Supporting and managing out internal VoIP telecoms systems
  • Third line support
  • Creating and maintaining system documentation
Skills and experience required to be a successful Infrastructure Engineer:Essential
  • Understanding of Windows Server operating systems
  • Both Azure and on-prem Networking and DNS
  • Microsoft Azure, particularly managing Virtual Machines (IaaS), Networking, Storage and PaaS solutions (App Services, Function Apps, Service Bus, Logic Apps and so on)
  • M365/EOL
  • Active Directory
  • Windows Updates
  • Managing enterprise software such as Antivirus
  • Good Cloud (Azure) as well as traditional on-prem knowledge
  • Effective communication skills and ability to explain concepts to a non-technical audience
  • Documentation composition (including pitching at correct level for target reader)
  • Project experience (to include planning, design, and implementation)
  • DR and business continuity management experience
  • Ability to manage and work concurrently on multiple assignments.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team
  • Process driven mind-set and approach.
  • Excellent problem solving/root cause analysis skills required.
  • Good Automation skills
Desirable
  • Web servers/IIS (We still have a few VM’s as Web Servers)
  • Azure Application Gateway
  • SFTP
  • Telephony (Twilio VoIP)
  • Intune/Endpoint
  • Azure Certification (AZ900 / AZ104 or similar)
  • PowerShell (We want to automate whatever we can)
