Job Description

We currently have an opportunity for a Furnace Specialist Operator based in Elton. Reporting to the Assistant Batch and Furnace Manager, you will ensure best practices operating procedures are applied.Full training will be provided. We are looking for an experienced operator who is keen to develop skills in a specialist area with a leading FMCG organisation.The role work as part of a team that will support activities such as:

  • The continual monitoring of furnace operations to ensure timely resolution of any issues
  • Coordinate and operationally assist the Batch and Furnace Manager to achieve targets around glass, melting rates furnace life and fuel efficiencies.
  • Ensuring performance, projected furnace life and lowest fuel cost goals.
  • Operational audits and promoting the use of operational best practices.
  • Ensure the safe and efficient running of furnaces
  • Maintain operations and the day to day operations in the furnace area
  • Monitor physical condition of both furnaces and all associated equipment on a daily basis, carrying out maintenance works and repairs when required, in order to optimise operations and ensure furnace integrity. This includes Furnace and regenerators repairs and sealing work. Flue system and regenerator cleaning, spout bowl replacement on forehearths. Crown cleaning and forehearth cleaning and other associated tasks.
  • Raise maintenance requirements and inform of any major issues to the Batch & Furnace Manager
  • Log and monitor control system data, and log data for furnace inspections on critical control sheet
  • Ensure quality, continuous supply and correct storage of refractory with a stock check list
  • Assist management during a colour change.
    • Requirements
  • Experience of working within a fast paced factory setting
  • experience of working as part of a team
  • Operator licences Forklift Truck and Shovel operations would be advantageous
  • A pro-active, can do attitude, with the ability to take on a variety of tasks that may include cleaning, maintenance and repair work, and ad hoc work as required

    • The role is a days based role, working Monday - Friday. Some flexibility may be required during busy periods, or when project work is being completed.Please note -the role is based in a hot working environment.
