Job Description

1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant-SEMHLocation - Ellesmere Port, UKThe Education Network is currently seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant for a very well respected SEMH setting for pupils with complex communication needs and associated behaviours from ages 9 to 16. You will work 1:1 with a KS3 pupil who demonstrateschallenging behaviour. The student responds well to short chunk tasks with frequent breaks of physical activity such as football, gym time-therefore someone who is of a sporty nature, or has a background of sports coaching would be ideal. You will be patient,tolerant and not be intimidated by threatening language or behaviour-as this is how the student initially tries to reach out and bond with his support workers. Ideally you will be Team Teach trained, or be familiar with strategies/verbal de-escalation techniquesto support people with additional learning needs. The post will commence as soon as the right candidate is sourced for the role.Other similar roles are available in specific SEND schools in the Cheshire area-as well as mainstream SEND Departments in both the Primary & Secondary areas.You will work under the guidance of teaching staff, to support the student in and out of the classroom.
