Job Description

Category Materials BuyerElland Up to £37,000 pa plus benefitsAn opportunity has arisen for an experienced Category Buyer to join a large fast paced business. In this role you will be responsible for managing all commercial aspects of sourcingspend analysis, tendering and business award.This role is an excellent opportunity offering a competitive salary and benefits package.Category Buyer Responsibilities:

  • You will be responsible for creating and implementing category sourcing strategies using the Category Management process
  • Responsibility for all commercial aspects of sourcing- spend analysis, tendering and business award
  • Sourcing and evaluating new products while promoting cost saving and efficiencies
  • As an experienced Buyer you will be confident in negotiating, implementation and maintain supplier framework agreements
  • You will undertake supplier performance reviews as necessary to maintain Supplier performance levels for quality, cost, and delivery
  • Driving and implementing Supplier programmes for category preferred suppliers
  • Supply chain lead and support to cross divisional projects and initiatives
  • Obtain written confirmation of agreed delivery dates by means of securing formal purchase order acknowledgements
  • Updating the SAP system, identifying agreed delivery dates from all materials and to take proactive steps to mitigate and recover any potential impacts to planned production requirements.
Hours:Full-time, Monday to Friday 37 hours working Monday to Thursday 8.00am to 4.30pm and Friday 8.00am to 1.45pm.Required Skills & Experience:
  • Proven track record of category buying within an Engineering or Technical manufacturing environment, including Low Cost and Best Cost sourcing
  • Knowledge of purchasing Workflow/SRM systems will be of an advantage
  • Previous experience of working across numerous projects and working closely with an international supply base and multiple cultures
  • Excellent communication and relationship management skills
  • Confident IT user working knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
