Job Description

Assistant Accountant | Elland | £25,000 + study supportThe OpportunityFast track career opportunity for an Assistant Accountant within an agile and rapidly expanding group based in Elland, West Yorkshire.

  • This is a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Highly professional, award-winning SME group circa £20m turnover. There are constant opportunities to be involved in interesting projects due to the culture of continuous improvement and its a business thatis large enough for you to be stretched and challenged but small enough for you to be recognised, valued and fast-tracked.
  • The role is broad, the scope is huge- massive opportunity to make the role your own and swiftly progress into a fully-fledged assistant management accounting position over the next 2 years.
  • You will work for a highly approachable and modern-thinking Head of Finance who will provide the mentoring and support to allow you to develop rapidly.
You will enjoyAs Assistant Accountant your role will initially surround supporting the Management Accountant with all aspects of the monthly calendar - AP and AR, reconciliations, journals etcAs your confidence grows you will be more heavily involved in management accounts prep, financial analysis and reporting, month end, budgeting - all of the core experience you need to qualify with a really rounded skill set.In the short term you need to be comfortable rolling up your sleeves and getting stuck into the purchase and sales ledger duties to gain a firm grounding in their processes / systems etc.You need to be
  • Studying toward AAT with previous experience of Purchase Ledger as a minimum. You are likely to be currently in a role as Accounts / Finance Clerk but looking for more progression and development.
  • Able to demonstrate confidence using Excel.
  • Ambitious, driven, keen to learn and keen to progress.
  • Someone with professional communication skills and a calm and sensible approach to solving new challenges.
  • A team player who enjoys working with others.
