Reporting directly to the Purchasing Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the supply chain is proficient in providing continuity of supply on all materials required, to support manufacturing, installations and service, whilst consistently achieving both department and Company objectives.Part of your role is to maintain reliable cost competitive sources of supply, in conjunction with Strategic Procurement, and be able to manage a small team of Buyers including Supplier Quality Management.Key Responsibilities: *Reporting into the Purchasing Manager with direct reports of 3 Buyers and 1 Quality Engineer.*Management responsibilities including: oResponsibility for Inventory up to a value of £2moWeekly Management updatesoMonitor actual performance of, and evaluate the result and quality of work produced by subordinatesoManage staff to deliver timely, to quantity, at an acceptable quality level and within standard cost, the material requirements that fulfils the Sales and Operations PlanoEnsure individual/department targets in respect of inventory levels and supplier performance are met*Ensure that all purchases are made to the specified delivery, and within standard cost and inventory targets. *All associated purchase order management including expediting and rescheduling of orders in line with inventory targets.*Provide suppliers with regular forecasts, to ensure full visibility of our requirements*Management of safety stock in line with forecasted requirements and inventory targets*Management of production shortages and associated communication with the planning team.*Report any significant supply/logistical problem to the Purchasing Manager, to ensure problem is communicated to the relevant departments.*Ensure that purchasing data is always kept up to date in the MRP system.Required background:*Significant purchasing experience in a similar role, including managing a small team of buyers.*Full / part member of CIPS.*Knowledge of Sales and Operations Planning. Knowledge of Planning and Purchasing best practices. Commercially aware.*Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.*Knowledge of BaaN / other ERP Systems*Significant experience in application of spreadsheets to an advanced level.Experience of managing relationships within the plastics industry is desired. A 6-9 Month Fixed Term Contract. Required skills
