  • The RoleAssociate Software Developers begin their career with BBI working on projects under the supervision and guidance of more experienced developers. The key aspect of this role is building a good base to start your career and look to become a software developer. The areas of knowledge that will be the focus of training will be creating clear, readable, well-structured code, a solid understanding of the use of version control and the ability to do basic GIT commands without supervision, a good understanding of the development tools and ability to debug. During your time as an associate developer, you will be working alongside more senior team members on live projects and should expect to be given small manageable tasks in the projects to help with learning. Over time the complexity of these tasks should increase in line with your skill set and the level of supervision should decrease with the goal of becoming a confident capable developer ready to take on tasks in the projects.Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to;
  • Creates clear, readable, well-structured code. By the end of probation understand the structure and components behind our toolset and confidently uses the most common features
  • Consistently uses GIT correctly, commits their code every day and works on appropriatebranches etc.
  • Understands debugging their own code - seeks help when stuck, but increasingly lessfrequently.
  • Responds positively to feedback; seeks advice of others on design patterns and codeapproaches.
  • Work as part of a team who designs and develops mobile apps to defined scopes and timelines on Android, iOS platforms and Python / .js technologies.
  • Understands where to find documentation, has undertaken all mandatory training and keepsdocumentation up to date.
  • Seeks guidance from colleagues on correct design controls, actively seeks approval beforemaking software changes that affect others and does not intentionally bypass systems designed to safeguard quality.
  • Follows company design principles including maximising code reuse, and ease of testing.
  • Works consistently on tasks between direction, but likely to seek direction on a daily or morefrequent basis.
  • RequirementsTo be successful in your application you will need to demonstrate a technical mindset, strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills. We are seeking an individual with an undergraduate degree in Computer Science/Software Engineering or equivalent experience.If you are an internal employee applying for this vacancy you and your manager are required to complete an internal transfer form.
