Job Purpose StatementWhere youll fit in & what our team goals are.... As the VAT Manager, you will provide support in running the VAT compliance and advisory of the Columbia Threadneedle EMEA and APAC entities, look after ad hoc VAT queries raised and support the Indirect Tax Senior Manager as appropriate. Role ResponsibilitiesHow youll spend your time....

  • Preparation of EC Sales List for the Columbia Investments EU entities.
  • Calculation of Pyrford International VAT position as a standing alone group based on agreed partial exemption method and arranging for VAT payments being made between entities in accordance with agreed timescales
  • Preparation of Group VAT Reconciliation on a monthly basis, highlighting and investigating any discrepancies.
  • Preparing the annual budget with regards to irrecoverable VAT.
  • Providing assistance to the Indirect Tax Senior Manager on VAT matters when required.
Preparation of the VAT return for the Columbia Investments VAT Group on quarterly basis. Preparation of the return involves various tasks, and these are noted below:
  • review of revenue invoices to ensure that accurate VAT treatment is applied to services supplied;
  • allocation of revenue per product type;
  • detailed analyse of VAT group expenditure;
  • review of proxy that is used for partial exemption purposes;
  • completion of VAT return based on the Partial exemption method;
  • reconciliation of irrecoverable VAT per product type;
  • online submission of the VAT return by cut off;
  • arranging VAT payment within required timescale.
Preparation of the VAT returns for the Columbia Investments non-UK entities on timely basis. Preparation of the return involves various tasks and these are noted below:
  • review of revenue invoices to ensure that correct VAT treatment is applied to services supplied;
  • detailed analyse of expenditure;
  • engaging external advisors regarding online submission of the VAT return by deadline;
  • arranging VAT payment within required timescale.
Key CapabilitiesTo be successful in this role you will have....
  • An individual with excellent VAT knowledge, who manages the VAT compliance of the group in the most efficient manner.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills are required for this role, as is an attention to detail, to ensure that VAT compliance is managed on a timely basis, to an outstanding standard with clear back up documentation.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work a part of a team as well as on their own is required.
  • The individual should be keen, enthusiastic, proactive and willing to get involved in issues.
  • In addition the individual should be interested in understanding how the VAT interacts in a fund management and banking business.
  • Good personal management skills.
