Venesky-Browns client, a public sector organisation in Edinburgh, are currently looking to recruit a Unix Engineer for an initial 6 month contract on a rate of c.£450/day (Outside of IR35).Responsibilities:• Assist with development of current UNIX platform to RHEL8• Develop and strengthen automation to support disaster recovery activities• Continue to drive service improvements across security and system vulnerabilities• Contribute towards maintenance of existing platform including future provisioning and best practice setup• Provide expert guidance on setup and support for current platform• Assist in core infrastructure migration to NetApp MetroclusterExperience:• UnixoRHEL 6/7/8 System administrationoSolaris 2.6 onwards to 11 administrationoSolaris Zone administrationoOracle VM administration using Oracle VM ManageroAutomation• NetAppoOntap 9 CLIoREST APIoMetroCluster• Knowledge and experience of Agile working, including such disciplines as Kanban, feedback, retrospectives, VFQ.• Customer focused, through proactive engagement• Risk aware, focused on risk reduction and mitigation• Strong attention to detail• Effective team working and technical decision making• Quality focused, due care and attention taken to ensure solutions and platform meet their quality criteria and the team standards set• Experience of designing and leading infrastructure projects• Creativity - taking new approaches to tackle problems; embracing innovation and sharing knowledge with, a range of sources and stakeholders• Strong documentation skills essentialDesirable Skills:• Strong proponent of automation in design and implementation• Work with wider assurance function to ensure DR testing procedures are well established and performant• General security design and architecture knowledge• Support of Oracle DBs on Solaris• Avamar backup administration• Understanding Oracle license modelIf you would like to hear more about this opportunity please get in touch.
