Currently, we have more than 700 trainees working in external audit and this number will continue to grow. Our trainees receive an outstanding programme of blended training which complements their development and career progression in audit. This growth has given rise to an exciting opportunity for a new senior manager role to lead and develop our trainee programme. Providing personalised learning with evolving training styles to cover the neurodiversity of your target audiences is an essential part of achieving this aim.Training at RSMAt RSM, we believe that high quality training is achieved when the trainer is involved at every stage. When developing training, you will be involved from the inception and scoping, innovation in the design and ultimately, delivery of the finished product.You will have full responsibility for training projects. This is supported throughout including technical reviews, a separate team of eLearning developers and peer reviews within the training team. The Audit Development Team work closely with various stakeholders in audit – quality, technical and, importantly, the client facing audit teams to develop and deliver a programme of training that both responds to the regulatory rigours of the profession andcomplements the professional development of every member of the audit team.The role of Senior Training Manager provides the opportunity to influence the audit training strategy and work closely with the audit business to deliver a programme of training that responds to existing and future developments in the profession.ResponsibilitiesAs senior manager, you will be responsible for the delivery of the audit training programme for trainees. This will involve:

  • Working closely with audit engagement teams and other audit functions to identify and understand gaps in the current programme of training
  • Collaborating with our central talent development team to integrate non-technical skills into the existing audit training programme
  • Managing the student training team’s programme of delivery, ensuring there is sufficient resource to meet current and forecast training needs
  • Identifying and driving forward improvements in training delivery style and format
  • Designing and delivering a strategy of blended learning with a focus on collaboration with the digital team to improve our eLearning offering
In addition, you will work collaboratively with the Audit Development Team to:
  • Manage the wellbeing and development of the team (including line manager responsibilities)
  • Ensure that evolving training styles cover the neurodiversity of your target audiences
  • Specifically understanding the learning styles and needs of individuals who are neurodivergent
  • Identify opportunities to adopt technological advancements in training and work collaboratively with the wider training team to implement related changes
  • Continually challenging training content and delivery by exploring innovative training formats (e.g. VR)
About the ideal candidate
  • Above all, we are looking for a candidate who is passionate about the audit profession and excited about the opportunity to influence the development of audit at RSM through the implementation of our training strategy
  • The candidate should demonstrate expertise in learning design and delivery. They should have substantial experience in successfully developing training on complex technical areas in a way that is engaging and relatable for the target audience
  • Your understanding of the RSM audit business coupled with an in-depth knowledge of the profession will be complemented by excellent project management and teamwork skills to help deliver this strategy
  • You should have experience in line managing and leading a team
  • The ability to combine robust technical knowledge with creativity in the design and delivery of training programmes is an important attribute for the role
The role requires:
  • You will have experience working in external audit and be ACA, ICAS, or equivalent qualified
  • The role is hybrid based. Delivery of training and meetings are both online and face to face. Therefore, there is a requirement to be able to travel anywhere nationally. Substantial advance notice of all travel requirements is generally given
