NHS LOTHIANUNIVERSITY HOSPITALS DIVISIONTherapy Services RIE Band 4 Critical Care Recovery ServicePhysiotherapy Assistant Practitioner15 hours / Permanent We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic therapy assistant practitioner to join our Critical Care Recovery (CCR) service. This team is focussed on providing individualised therapy assessment and rehabilitation to ICU survivors within the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. Our key aim is to enable individuals to regain independent physical function after having a prolonged stay in the Intensive Care UnitAs an assistant practitioner you will work with multiple members of the therapy team (including Physiotherapists / occupational therapists / Speech and language therapists / dietitians).You will be allocated a delegated patient caseload by the qualified therapy team. For your caseload and when relevant you will be expected to work independently, assessing the patients needs, modifying treatment plans, and delivering this care without supervision. This will include progressing patients, reassessing and discharging within scope of practice. Full engagement with the multidisciplinary team on your ward is another key part of this position.You will also support the therapy team through a range of non-clinical duties, from equipment ordering, referring patients to primary care teams, to assisting with statistical information collation for patient activity audit purposes. You may also be involved in assisting with support of band 2 and 3 therapy support workers.The range of conditions encountered and requirement for excellence in clinical reasoning and team working in this post at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh will allow the successful candidate to gain extensive and in-depth experience as a band 4 CCR assistant practitioner.Therapy Services support staff development through appraisal processes, supervision and CPD opportunities.Candidates must display evidence of clinical experience of work in a variety of areas ideally including a rehabilitation setting, and will have relevant / current experience as a band 3 therapy support worker, or as a band 4 assistant practitioner.For further information on what is included in the role and what skills/experience are being looked for, click on the links at the bottom of the screen to the job description and person specification.
