Job Description

Summary of Role:As a Technical Owner, you will own the technology and technical direction for the Aegon UK digital experience. Drive continuous improvement and push the boundaries of innovation in technology and customer experience to make the Aegon platform 1st choice for our customers.Drive the delivery of the Aegon UK digital experience, act at all times as the technical owner of this product to make the right technical decisions from a project and a product perspective.The improved digital experience will improve the speed at which the business can realise value from change, provide a more predictable delivery model, reduce cost of change by moving to an engineering culture (tools over processes) and reduce the overall run cost of technology.Key Tasks:

  1. Define and drive technical vision and outcomes. Stimulate innovation by continuously encouraging the team POs to test and learn by producing easy to use prototypes and MVPs that enable quicker, faster and better delivery across its mobile and multi-channel applications. Drive the right technical decisions to build customer focused products, help the team and wider organisation understand complex technical challenges and decisions. Ensure security and safety at each point of the solution both as part of delivery and the longer term support model.
  2. Drive delivery, ensuring agreement and alignment on scope, awareness on risks and dependencies understanding the plan and dependancies in detail - able to discuss with delivery team or wider organsiation, embedding tools into the delivery organisation that improve requirements, planning, build, test, deploy, support. Evolve technology processes to be tool driven instead of manual Embed an agility mind-set, delivering business value early without compromising on risk. Focus on re-use and consolidation helping teams to move blockers by working across the wider organisation.
  3. Be the Technical owner understanding the AS-IS Aegon digital and data landscape and ensure there is a clear understanding of the baseline, what has been built and why, understanding the constraints. Shape the technical direction and roadmap working with architecture teams to drive the roadmap through business demands and joining up existing programmes of work.
Skills & Knowledge:
  • Effective influencing and negotiation skills in an environment where resources are not be in direct management control.
  • An entrepreneurial drive, with the ability to deconstruct and solve problems, to investigate drivers and figure out why things happen.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts and technologies to business leaders, and get technologists to understand business drivers.
  • Broad technical background with an in-depth understanding of: Cloud platforms, solutions and frameworks - IaaS, SaaS, PaaS, Digital engineering, Data solutions, analytics and machine learning and Engineering tools.
  • Policy Admin systems, GBST and FNZ would be beneficial
  • Experience:
  • Defining and embedding digital frameworks and design systems.
  • Experience of Content Management solutions, especially CaaS, headless CMS.
  • Analytics capabilities web and data.
  • Defining a data model for Digital Experiences and the wider organisation.
  • Delivering cloud solutions (PaaS. IaaS,SaaS), data platforms and engineering capability in a regulated environment.
  • Delivery mechanisms including both iterative and waterfall across multi-discilinary teams.
  • Previous experience of transforming and leading ways of working in a regulated environment and effectively using JIRA, Confluence, Teams as productivity and collaboration tools.
  • Proven ability to think laterally across issues and challenges and join the dots and see a way though.
  • Proven ability to move from the conceptual to the fine detail both at a functional and technical level.
