We cover the whole range of areas within IT, from Infrastructure & Architecture to Digital Transformation & Innovation. We are responsible for the Technology Operations and for managing our IT Suppliers, and we guarantee the Information Security for our Partners and our Customers. We also have ownership of Business Intelligence across TSB.The Technical Operations Analysts in the Infrastructure Operations & Service delivery team supports the Technical Operations Managers in the delivery of both customer and colleague facing technology to the Bank. Providing expertise, support and administration to plan, implement, maintain and administer infrastructure and platforms to support TSBs business processes, this role is responsible for supporting the end to end operation of the Mainframe compute platform & Mid-range compute platforms.Key responsibilities include:

  • To support the Technical Operations Managers in the provision of service and operational excellence for TSB in the field of Mainframe & Mid-range technologies, through the effective and efficient management and integration of key suppliers and internal teams
  • To liaise with IT suppliers and internal teams to deliver operational excellence that meets agreed service levels and budgets
  • To support and administer the development of solutions that expand or enhance the service and technology portfolios, automate IT operations, reduce costs or increase levels of service
  • To support, manages and measure performance of the suppliers of our key technologies in particular Mainframe Batch, Storage, Backup and Recovery
  • To manage and support the efficient and timely delivery of batch services including Job Creation and Scheduling
  • To identify and assess risks, plan and implement countermeasures
  • To participate in the resolution of incidents and problems under direction from Technical Operations Managers or Incident & Recovery Managers; provide technical operational support to the resolution and recovery of normal operations following Critical and Major Incidents
  • To participate in the evaluation of Requests for Change to align services with business needs, maximise value whilst minimising incidents and rework; liaison with suppliers and making recommendations to Technical Operations Managers
  • To support the Technical Operations Manager to improve the standard of technical delivery, knowledge and competencies within CIO and across the business relevant to Mainframe & Mid-range technologies
  • To support submissions to the technical design authority, including drafting and submitting technical proposals, and reviewing progress to ensure they meet business needs
  • To ensure that all infrastructure and platforms are developed, implemented and operated in a manner that supports appropriate levels of resilience and performance
  • Deputise for the Technical Operations Managers and other Technical Operations team members as required

  • Good communication skills with a capacity to present, discuss and explain issues coherently and logically both in writing and verbally
  • Ability to disseminate important messages to an executive audience
  • Clear decision-making ability with the facility to judge complex situations and assess when to escalate issues
  • Ability to balance conflicting and changing demands through prioritisation and a pragmatic approach
  • Self-motivated, able to work on own initiative and able to work collaboratively and constructively within project and discipline teams
  • Ability to contribute and maintain a culture and vision where colleagues are engaged and inspired to deliver within budget and timelines for their customers
  • Ability to build and develop the culture of the CIO function as a key member of the IT Production Services Team, and supports the development of the CIO culture across TSB
