Job Description

Job Title: Technical Field EngineerLocation: EdinburghSalary: Up to £45k per annumJob type: Full Time, Permanent, Remote Working with Travelling RequiredThe Role:As a Technical Field Engineer you will be responsible for the smooth delivery of re-occurring, pre-booked Technical Engineering visits to a variety of customer sites. You will support customers both remotely and on-site, delivering a personal IT servicewithin our framework of proactive service options, tailored to the customers needs.You will review, monitor, support and advise our customers during your visits, ensuring their wider infrastructure IT systems and endpoint devices and are kept in peak condition whether they are cloud or hybrid systems, whilst always delivering exceptionalcustomer service.Who Are WeTSG (Technology Services Group) are a Managed IT Services provider servicing businesses UK Wide. Responsibilities:
  • Complete pre-defined checks, review IT systems and services whether they be cloud, hybrid or on-premise
  • Collect additional technical audit information as and when required, updating internal systems for use by colleagues, including the on-boarding of new customers
  • Review technical debt and advise on system improvements to the customers infrastructure and resilience on-site
  • Help with the strategic planning and road mapping of their IT systems, working alongside the Client Success Managers
  • Delivering projects and changes to existing or new infrastructure environments to customers in your region or remote
  • Update TSGs CRM and ticketing system when applicable and our technical information repository with detailed notes
Essential Skills Required:
  • UK driving license
  • A broad knowledge of hardware and software platforms, cloud systems, physical servers, networking devices, as well as end user desktop support experience
  • An in-depth knowledge of supporting and troubleshooting Microsoft server and desktop operating systems
  • Good working knowledge of leased lines, FTTC, firewalls, VPNs, switches, VLANs, and corporate anti-virus products
  • Experience with managing and supporting M365, Azure and hosted Exchange
  • Excellent face to face communication skills along with a pleasant telephone manner
  • Comfortable working on site, in front of customers at their place of work
Desirable Skills:
  • Proven experience of commissioning new leased lines, FTTC, firewalls, VPNs, switches, and VLANs
  • Knowledge of working with enterprise level end-point protection, such as Microsoft Defender for Cloud
  • Knowledge of Cloud Backup technologies, such as Datto Siris and Datto SaaS
  • Experience of implementing new Hyper V Hosts and virtual servers or Azure hosted technologies
  • Hosted/SIP/Teams telephony knowledge
  • Microsoft associate level certification or equivalent vendor accreditation
