Job Description

2 X SUPPORT ENGINEER - INSIDE IR35 - RUNNING TO END OF JUNE 2024Loriens leading Higher Education Client is looking to hire a skilled support worker.This role will be working to reconfigure spaces and migrate staff & students to laptop/docking solutions, removing desktop workstations from work, learning and teaching spaces. In tandem with this we continue to make improvements to our services, replacingstaff & student user devices in line with the End User Device and Hardware Refresh policies, and rolling out new operating system versions and other improved services, such as Autopilot. The audit and maintenance of accurate asset records is a critical partof this.The following main areas of work are required:

  • Migration of workstation/desktop PCs to docking solution setups, including unboxing, building, testing and asset registering
  • Liaison with users to assist in coordinating these works.
  • Processing existing IT equipment as necessary for disposal or reuse including any administrative and physical work required.
  • Deploying new and reused user devices
  • Audit of hardware assets and updating of asset register
SKILLS / EXPERIENCE:
  • Experience of installation, maintenance, testing and troubleshooting of IT Technology.
  • Practical experience of working in a customer support environment providing technical solutions and able to demonstrate the use of technology.
  • Knowledge and understanding of desktop computers, laptops, printers and software.
  • Proven ability to work with internal and external colleagues such as estates and facilities, suppliers, building trades and other stakeholders.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively at operational levels.
  • Strong customer focus - demonstrating good listening techniques to gain a thorough understanding of customer needs, interpreting requirements accurately, to develop technical solutions and deliver a prompt and efficient service.
  • Ability to consistently and accurately update technical documents such as asset management configuration, procedures for technicians and end user documentation.
  • Practical IT skills, including a good working knowledge of Windows operating systems, computer applications, internet and digital information services.
  • Ability to work calmly and systematically in a busy environment, to prioritise work and to meet agreed deadlines.
  • Good problem solving and analytical skills with the ability to approach and resolve problems in a thoughtful and practical manner.
  • Experience of configuring and supporting Mac operating systems.
  • Experience of structured cabling and related network technologies.
  • Experience of installing and supporting laptop docking solutions.
  • Experience of supporting audio-visual installations.
