Job Description

Student Communication OfficerPermanent / full timeEdinburgh£34,192 - £37,700 per annum (under review)Scotlands Rural College (SRUC) has embarked on the delivery of its new strategy, with the aim of becoming a unique, 21st-century university. Effectively communicating key messages to a variety of stakeholders, including staff, students, Scottish and localgovernment - as well as the wider agricultural community - will be vital.We are currently looking for an experienced Student Communications Officer to join the team based in Edinburgh.Part of the Communications team, the purpose of the role is to improve how SRUC communicates with its students. In this role you will help SRUC to become a more listening organisation, and support quality two-way communications with our student body - ensuringthat there is ideal pushing of information at the right times, and that our student voice is heard consistently and strongly from the point of pre-enrolment right through to graduation and beyond.In this role, it will be your responsibility to:

  • support a strong and informed student community
  • support SRUC in creating a better student experience - take findings from the student voice project and folding in good practice into consistent student communications
  • support our ambition to improve our NSS position year on year
  • oversee content on MySRUC App and other digital channels
  • lead on joint communications with SRUCSA (student association) where appropriate via a range of channels
  • signpost relevant services to students
  • design campaigns at key points and on specific topics (e.g. Mental Health, Wellbeing)
  • build an annual institutional communications plan that includes NSS promotion, Speakweek and surveying
  • attend student liaison committees and other relevant meetings
