Venesky-Browns client, a public sector organisation based in Edinburgh, are currently looking to recruit 2 x Statisticians for an initial 3-6 month contracts on a rate of c.£400-450/day (outside of IR35). Due to the current circumstances the roles will be remote based. The Role: To lead and manage the statistics and information team so as to ensure the provision of a comprehensive statistics and information service and to contribute to the strategic direction of the business area.Responsibilities: • Provide the organisation with the appropriate analysis to evidence strategic decision-making and inform educational policy, where appropriate.• Research, draft and present evidence-based policy and decision-making papers which often challenge existing practices and approaches to senior groups and committees comprised of internal and external stakeholders.• Respond to internal, stakeholder and customer requests for analysis, advice, data, and information to satisfy user demand, legislation and professional standards.• Determine and apply the appropriate statistical methods, standards and procedures to ensure the quality and relevance of the organisations statistical products and processes.• Approve the organisations national statistical outputs and all methodological changes to meet user needs and ensure accuracy.• Ensure effective statistical support (including maintenance/development of software and staff training).• Identify tasks which should be charged for in order to make the best use of the organisations resources and to generate income, where appropriate.• Manage the overall allocation of resources and stakeholder expectations to optimise performance and facilitate delivery of current and future services.• Lead, coach, train and develop the statistics team to maximise performance in line with professional standards.• Instigate, lead, manage and deliver change to meet business needs, continuous improvement initiatives and development projects.Essential Skills:• Knowledge/experience of working in a statistics discipline particularly in the education field or relevant related area. • Experience of line managing a team.• Have knowledge and experience of using statistical packages (in particular SAS) and data interrogation tools.• Have knowledge of assessment theory and practice and practical knowledge of assessment and item analysis or be willing to develop this expertise in the role.• Degree level qualification in statistics.• Be an effective communicator.• Have strong analytical and research skills.• Have leadership, interpersonal and team-working skills.If you would like to hear more about this opportunity please get in touch.
