We provide a supra regional neurointerventional service to the entire population of the East Scotland, and as part of an on call commitment shared with Greater Glasgow and Clyde a Scotland wide cover for subarachnoid haemorrhage.We are about to embark on an exciting new service development within our existing service delivering Mechanical Thrombectomy to patients who have suffered acute ischaemic stroke. This new service is will offer a dramatic reduction in morbidity and mortality for these patients.Ischaemic stroke is one of the largest causes of death or disability worldwide and effective/timely intervention of mechanical thrombectomy has proven through trials to improve patient outcomes, quality of life and reduce the impact on community services .This is a unique time to join our nursing team in our initial phase one and be part of one the first centres in Scotland to provide this ground breaking service.We currently have the opportunity to appoint a Staff Nurse Band 5 to be part of this exciting time. The successful candidate will be required to work as part of the multidisciplinary team and the duties include scrubbing, anaesthetics and circulating for the Neurointerventional procedures working closely alongside Neurointerventional Consultants, trainee fellows, radiographers and our Neuro theatre colleagues. The skills described are not imperative for applicants as supportive training protocols are in place. Participation in the on-call rota is mandatory to allow this long awaited service to be rolled out successfully.This is Phase one so initially will involve weekday evenings and alternate weekend cover but over time this will evolve into our ultimate target of a comprehensive 24/7 service.The post includes an extended role in male catheterisation, cannulation/IV additive duties and some radiology diagnostic commitments for supporting CT and MRI.Further information regarding this post can be obtained from Charge Nurse Karen Briggs Telemail: and applications are received NHSL recruitment.These posts may involve the performance of Exposure Prone Procedures and enhanced discloser is required.
