Job Description

Summary:The role of Senior Scientist offers the chance to join a company at the forefront of the development of AAV and Gene Therapy technology. They are a clinical stage company who are driven by the realisation that they can offer the best AAV technologies and gene therapies. With a focus on genetic disorders. such as those that affect the central nervous system, muscles, and heart tissues. Their Edinburgh site is the R&D Engine of the company developing new platform technologies or enhancing existing platforms as they progress to clinical trials. With technology that focuses on wild type AAV vectors allied with sector leading gene expression tools, gene dosing and high yield AAV manufacturing capabilities.The role:The Edinburgh site is seen as the centre of excellence for the engineering of cell lines for use in production of AAV Vectors. Working with machine learning and bioinformatics experts to develop stable cell lines to transfer to the manufacturing team.They are engineering cell lines using techniques such as CRISPR, Gibson Assembly and Golden Gate for example. As a Senior Scientist you will be contributing to the design of experimental R&D programmes and then executing these in the laboratories. Directing more junior scientists and colleagues in their day to day activities using your science to deliver results on timeExperience:For this opportunity you will need to have a relevant degree or high qualification with experience of working in commercial environments. With experience of engineering mammalian or human cell lines e.g CHO or HEK. You will need to have experience of using techniques such as CRISPR or Gibson Assembly or Golden Gate to generate stable cell lines ready for manufacture. As well as techniques such
