Job Description

RECRUITMENTiQ is working in partnership with a local University. We are investing in capacity and capability for the future, with opportunities to gain experience in best-of-breed solutions.The roleThis role sits within Client Services which is one part of the Information Systems Groups (ISG). ISG is one line of service with the development capability in IS, with responsibility for the business and academic systems development and maintenance.Client Services evaluates, designs, develops, implements and maintains services and processes, which provide end-users with consistent and secure access to centrally managed university services, including Line of Business and Teaching applications, personal and shared Data, and Multifunction Printers (MFPs).You will design, develop, test, and implement changes that deliver business improvements to meet the needs of our users. This will include gathering requirements, producing high-level designs and specifications, making changes to code or system configuration, writing test plans and scripts, test execution, and release management.You will be viewed as the solutions specialist for a portfolio of systems across the University, providing advice and guidance and taking the lead, as appropriate, whilst managing risk.Who we are looking forWe are looking for people with technical expertise who have a collaborative workstyle, ensuring knowledge transfer throughout the department so we deliver the best support and systems for our colleagues, Schools, and Students. Experience within a Higher or Further Education or similar multi-user and multi-service environment would be desirable.You will be able to initiate and maintain a network of relationships and work proactively with multiple stakeholders within our schools and professional service departments, making key recommendations and providing appropriate help and advice. You will have demonstrable knowledge and experience of enterprise-scale corporate IT management tools such as Microsoft System Centre Configuration Manager, Microsoft Endpoint Manager, PaperCut Print Management, or equivalents. We would also ask you have knowledge and experience of collaborative and cloud-hosted computing services and infrastructure, and how these interact with Client device users. In particular, Microsoft 365 and Azure Active Directory.Applicants must have:

  • Experience of full application development life-cycle
  • Proven experience in requirements gathering, system design delivery
  • Degree or equivalent in a related IT field or extensive relevant experience in a comparable role
  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience of client device operating system installation, management, and operation such as Microsoft Windows, Apple MacOS, Apple iOS, Google Android and Linux
  • Extensive experience in streamlining processes and contributing to systems improvements

  • Knowledge of supporting IT software technologies such as Java, C++, and Visual Studio
