They create and support personalised learning and research opportunities for students, staff and partners that nurture talent, create knowledge and shape communities around the world.The role:This role sits within the Information Services application development team whose primary purpose is to design, develop, implement and maintain the business and academic IT systems to support the University’s strategic and operational goals.As a Senior IT Developer (Web and VLE), you will be an expert in Microsoft .Net technologies and will lead on application development, seeking to enhance delivery of services such as the University web site, the institutional mobile app, the student and staff Intranets and bespoke developments.Working within a small specialist team of developers, you will provide day to day technical guidance on development activities.You will support other IS staff to ensure the effective and reliable delivery of interconnected services across the institution. You will also support any new people initiatives and improvements to existing processes.There is a requirement to liaise directly with people in the university, working collaboratively to improve systems and services for the University, students and customers.Who they are looking for:They are looking for a .NET programmer with front and back end experience. You should be educated to degree level in a related IT field or have extensive relevant experience in a comparable role. You should enjoy working collaboratively and will be able to evidence your experience in workflow design and development easily. Ideally you will have experience with a content management system.Essential to this role, you must be able to demonstrate a high level of competence in your experience of Microsoft/web development using:

  • C# + .NET Framework / .NET Core
  • ASP.NET Razor, MVC, web forms
  • SQL Server
  • TypeScript/JavaScript
  • One or more JavaScript libraries such as JQuery, React or Angular
  • HTML5
  • CSS
  • It would be desirable if you had experience of development within a Content Management System such as Sitecore and working within a DevOps or Agile team environment.They have flexible working available to ensure their staff are supported to succeed in their roles whilst maintaining a good home/work-life balance.
