Job Description

Senior Finance Systems Developer - Edinburgh (Initially Remote Working)Salary c. £39,000 - £49,000 Benefits - Excellent Benefits package + stats, non-contributory pension An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Finance Systems Developer with strong knowledge of IBM ETL tools and finance processes & controls to join a leading financial services business in Edinburgh on a permanent basis.Purpose:The successful candidate will support and drive data led solutions; efficient, controlled and automated ETL solutions for finance, projects and the wider business. There would also be an expectation to be proactive in leading the sharing of best practice, SME knowledge whilst acting as a representative of the data management team to the wider business.Core Responsibilities:

  • Development of efficient, controlled and automated ETL solutions for the finance teams and for projects outside finance.
  • Utilisation and optimisation of all software sets to deliver appropriate solutions for end users
  • Continuous improvement of existing processes, including documentation and controls Risk Management through adherence to policies (IT security, End User Computing, Data Protection, GDPR).
  • Supporting software communities through the promotion and maintenance of our Business Intelligence and ETL software sets.
  • Supporting management through understanding the processes and job streams within the remit of the team.
  • Supporting the Cognos Production team through prioritising automation and the customer / end user experience
  • Assisting team management by identifying development priorities and leading to ensure adequate resources are available to ensure delivery.
    • Desired Experience:The successful candidate will already be an expert in the use of IBM Infosphere Information Server / Datastage and have previous experience working in a similar Business Intelligence / ETL solutions role within financial services.
  • Strong development and implementation skills using IBM Datastage, Oracle SQL Developer.
  • Strong data analysis and modelling experience using Cognos Analytics tools.
  • Ability to analyse and translate business requirements into compelling technical solutions.
  • Ability to manage both own and project build deliverables to required standards and deadlines. * Proven ability in working within standard project management environments and controls
  • Ability to own and produce quality design and project documentation over an entire project lifecycle.
  • Ability to prioritise & engage with / influence key stakeholders.
  • Ability to act as an advocate for the use of BI/ DWH as a business enabler.
  • Knowledge of data warehouse design, development and delivery.
  • A sound knowledge of finance processes and controls.
  • Working knowledge of other ETL/ Integration tools like Cognos DataManager, SAS (EG and DI)
