Job Description

Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Edinburgh/Glasgow, is currently looking to recruit a Senior Communications Officer for an initial 6 month contract - on a salary of £37,831 - £46,100/annum. This role will be hybrid working in eitherEdinburgh or Glasgow.Responsibilities:- Communicate, engage and collaborate across the whole system in order to build a culture for health, collaborating with local partners to improve the health of communities - Help deliver programmes of work to support the National Care Service - developing innovative resources that work alongside professional advice and support - Support local communities by developing and delivering Once for Scotland services and resources that deliver national efficiencies - Inform and motivate our citizens - work with the wider health and social care sector plus third sector and commercial organisations to deliver integrated campaigns that ensure individuals are empowered to make informed decisions and take appropriate actionto improve and protect their own health - Increase the public’s awareness of the social determinants of health, enabling them to protect their health, make healthy choices and support health and wellbeing by creating the conditions that lead to collective action and behaviour change nationally, locallyand individually - Inform and communicate with staff to deliver a cohesive organisation that embodies the values of PHS and delivers a world class public health organisation - Promote and protect PHS’s remit and establish a strong brand identity that reinforces Public Health Scotland’s independent and trusted voice. - Follow all required financial, project planning and reporting organisational processes, ensuring the effective management of resources within defined limits and taking action or alerting manager as required, where corrective action is needed.Essential Skills:- Relevant qualification in marketing, communications or another related field, or experience to, postgraduate level. - Significant experience in marketing, communications or public affairs preferably within a public organisation – NHS, Third Sector or Local Government. - Experience of planning and managing delivery of multimedia communications across digital channels. - High level analytical skills, being able to understand complex health and related policy and strategy and draw core messages from this. - Sound project management skills. - Demonstrable experience of working in a customer service and continuous improvement environment - Demonstrable ability to communicate effectively formally and informally in writing and in person by listening to and understanding the views of customers, partners and stakeholders and conveying complex or difficult messages clearly and concisely and in anappropriate way for the audience. - Experience of working with complex information systems and processes an advantage. - Experience of understanding problems, planning and deploying projects to tackle them and learning from the experience. - Able to present to executive and Board level meetings and an understanding of corporate governance and information governance systems. - Skills and competence in influence and negotiation, including the ability to assimilate complex information, summarise key issues and present in an effective format to a range of different audiences. - Excellent organisational skills, including effective work planning for self and others and effective compliance with all organisational processes such as finance and audit, including high level of numeracy. - Proven ability to work effectively as part of a team. - Skills and competence in influence and negotiation, including the ability to assimilate complex information, summarise key issues and present in an effective format to a range of different audiences.- Excellent organisational skills, including effective work planning for self and others and effective compliance with all organisational processes such as finance and audit, including high level of numeracy.- Proven ability to work effectively as part of a team.If you would like to hear more about this opportunity, please get in touch.Required skills
