Job Description

Security AnalystBusiness Area - Planning, Governance & ComplianceGlasgow or DalkeithOur public sector client is recruiting a Security Analyst to come in on a fixed term contract to scope, plan, co-ordinate and evaluate the delivery of key security initiatives across the Business Systems Directorate in order to minimise operational, financialand reputational risk.Duties of this post

  • Provide security expertise and guidance via the Design Authority to ensure all security requirements are satisfied and compliance standards are met
  • Contribute to the development, implementation and evaluation of the IT security strategy and co-create the roadmap to support the overall IT strategic program and its associated operational activities
  • Contribute to the development of IT Security incident response processes to support the management of major security incidents
  • Evaluate requirements and research solutions to meet the needs of the IT security requirements to satisfy business and IT operational needs
  • Research solutions/frameworks for existing and emerging IT security related and identify, record and escalate, when necessary, security risks to the relevant technical teams in Business Systems to ensure issues are mitigated at the earliest possible opportunity
  • Provide governance over all modifications and enhancements to IT systems to ensure that security is not breached and ensure any remedial action is taken.
  • Lead and perform full risk assessments of both new and existing IT systems in conjunction with colleagues to ensure their integrity
  • Provide advice, guidance, and assistance to users of all IT systems to ensure they are used optimally and within policy
  • Section 3 Qualifications, knowledge, skills, and experience
  • As a minimum be educated to SCQF Level 8 ideally in an IT discipline and/or demonstrate experience of working in a complex technical role within an IT environment
  • Experience of ISO27001:2013 Information Security standard, including developing and implementing processes and procedures
  • Knowledge and of networking technologies and protocols (TCP/IP, Firewalls, SSL, HTTP.)
