Job Description

CrossReach recognise that having a baby is a challenging time in any parents life, with twoin fiveparents experiencing emotional difficulties during pregnancy and early parenthood. Left undetected and untreated the effects can go on for yearsand impact the whole family. For over 30 years, our Perinatal Counselling and Therapy Service has provided a safe and welcoming Crche, where parents feel completely comfortable leaving their children whilst they receive the support they need in order to move forward.As a Relief Crche Worker you will work with the Crche workers to provide a welcoming, safe, secure and stimulating space for children aged 0-5 whose parents are attending the Service. You will support and nurture each child as an individual, care sensitivelyand respectfully for the unique needs of each child - promoting positive behaviour, continue to evaluate and implement the guidelines as lay down by the Care Inspectorate and promote an overall sense of fun and learning with all children, through the use ofcreativity, enquiry and creativity. Main Function To ensure that the physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs of the babies and childrenare met in a manner that reflects the organisations Christian Ethos and Mission Statement. Main Duties

  1. Assist in the promotion of mental and physical activity of babies and childrenin the general day to day activities of the settingas detailed in individual personal care plans.
  2. Ensure that the service users physical environment is maintained to a high standard.
  3. Participate in staff and service users meetings as required.
  4. Comply with all Health and Safety requirements in line with current Policies including risk assessments.
  5. To undertake any training deemed necessary to fulfil the requirements of the role.
  6. Ensure an enabling environment is providing consistent stimulating and inspiring activities for the children in both the indoor and outdoor area.
  7. Safeguarding children is your priority.
  8. GIRFEC Safeguard and promote the health, safety and welfare of children in line with our child protection and keeping everyone safe policies and procedures. Ensure internal policies and procedures are adhered whilst also meeting the external legislationand guidelines from our governing bodies.
  9. Continually work in partnership with colleagues, parents and/or carers or other professionals to meet the individual needs of the children ensuring a diverse and inclusive approach is always maintained.
  10. You will ensure every individual childs needs are met.
  11. Create a trusting rapport with parents.
  12. Update parents on their childs day and development.

Qualifications Ideally you will possess an SVQ 3 in Social Service Children and Young People. If you do not you will be expected to achieve an SVQ 3 in a specified period. Personal As we do our work in Christs name you must be respectful of our Christian Ethos and be able to work within it.This post requires you to be a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme and undertake the necessary vetting checks.This post requires you to be registered with SSSC and it is your professional responsibility to ensure that you meet the standards and criteria for registration.
