Refugee Support Workers - Wrap Around Support - EdinburghContract - Initially 6 MonthsPay Rate - £10.73 per hourHours - 36 hours per weekThe Social Care Community Partnership are looking to recruit Refugee Support Workers for a quick start for Edinburgh City Council. Candidates will be based in hotels in Edinburgh where they will support Refugees. Candidates must be able to work nationallyto ensure a consistent service to all families, so that they are supported. Candidates must work pro-actively with the Home Office on communications regarding the support and provision at the hotel.Key ResponsibilitiesProvision of an overview of the current position in the UK. Covers their immigration status, where they have just been, why they are in the hotel and what is going to happen next.General welfare support - acting as the first point of contact for families with questions or problems and taking action to resolve these either directly or by following up with the Home Office.Handover of Biometric Residence Permits.Providing a daily summary of issues, raised and action taken in response to HO.Ensuring access to educational facilities where needed.Ensuring access to healthcare (via the NHS), assistance with setting up NHS number via registration with a local GP.In-house support with Mental Health and signposting to local providers as appropriateEnsuring access to dental care locally.Updating with latest advice relating to Covid regulations in Scotland.Providing assistance for registration for Universal Credit.Providing assistance for registration for application for a national insurance number.Provisions for childrens entertainment and support at the hotel, which cover for babies e.g. a creche to young adults.Providing access to a bank card/cash allowance while registration for universal credit takes place.Supporting families to access banking facilities in the UK and support to access their money.Support with access to housing - should any families want to progress to their own independent arrangements.Experience/SkillsSVQ 2 Health and Social Care or equivalent.Experience working within housing/homelessness.Good Listening and communication skills.Have or be willing to acquire a basic understanding of the implications of immigration status on entitlement to access services.Applicants will be subject to a PVG check.To ApplyPlease submit your CV in the first instance, you will be contacted if you have been shortlisted.For a confidential chat and for a detailed job description for the role please contact Charlotte Hickey or Steve More on .About the Social Care Community PartnershipThe Social Care Community Partnership (TSCCP) is both an award winning registered provider of social care services and a social care recruiter.
