Job Description

Pertemps are currently recruiting for a Redaction and Publication Officer to join our well-known Public Sector client.This post offers an excellent opportunity for a highly conscientious individual to gain further experience in a dynamic, multi-disciplinary environment, where they will be making a significant contribution to the investigation of the abuse of children in care,and recommendations to changes in policy and practice to protect children in the future.Pay: £156.05 per dayHours: 37 hours per weekAssignment: January 2022 for 6 months with possibility for extensionLocation: Central EdinburghKey Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Be responsible for the redaction of documents, such as witness statements, hearing transcripts, etc., prior to publication on the website, ensuring high degrees of accuracy and consistent with the Chairs General Restriction Order (GRO).
  • Be responsible for the preparation and publication of documents, such as witness statements, hearing transcripts, etc., on the website, ensuring high degrees of accuracy and consistent with the Chairs GRO.
  • Be responsible for the creation and application of ciphers on redacted information, including related cipher databases and process flowcharts, ensuring high degrees of accuracy.
  • Develop extensive knowledge of the evidence database and its contents.
  • Work closely with the Legal and Paralegal Teams, while undertaking the redaction of sensitive personal data before documents and witness statements can be released to Core Participants (CPs).
  • Ensure day-to-day delivery and completion of business processes, including redaction and publication actions and timelines, preparing reports and making recommendations to update where required.
  • Where required, process and analyse gathered documentary evidence, which will include the handling and management of sensitive and confidential information.
  • Have a critical role, during public hearings, in supporting counsel and the legal representatives of core participants in having access to all the relevant documentary evidence.
  • Carry out research tasks, primarily based on the documentary evidence, in support of Inquiry counsel and solicitors.
Experience and Skills Required:
  • High levels of interpersonal skills, including oral and written communications.
  • High degrees of resilience and dealing with distressing subject matter.
  • Proven experience of working under pressure and to tight timelines.
  • Proven experience of handling sensitive information.
  • Proven experience in working autonomously and assuming responsibility for document quality standards.
  • An analytical thinker with the ability to also think laterally, i.e., context and jigsaw identification.
  • Excellent skills in attention to detail; and,
  • Flexibility to work across the various functions in the wider REM Team.
  • Current Basic Disclosure is an essential requirement.
