Due to their size, we are recruiting a number of roles (exclusively), with the organisation that is business critical. Oneof the roles that we are recruiting is a practice accountant for an Edinburgh city centre location.The organisation are exceptionally well established but are under the employment market radar. Established last century they have a legacy of being one of Edinburgh`s most prestigious firms, and also have a reputation of exceptional quality and pride.The organisation have a relatively flat structure and have a strong training focus with employees on a training contract allocated a buddy and a mentor (both likely to be qualified accountants however not always). The organisation have a strong work lifebalance culture and it is rare to see many staff in the office after 5pm.The ResponsibilitiesThe role that we are focusing on here is a practice accountant and the primary purpose will be to deliver the statutory and management accounts for a number of our clients customers. You will be working closely with the outsourcing team and ultimately be accountablefor the production of their accounts with supplementary business advisory services.On a day to day basis some of your responsibilities will be as follows;Liaising with clients to understand their business and form relationships.Review the preparation of VAT returns and other associated bookkeeping tasks.Production of year end statutory accounts.Production of management accounts and subsequent communication/distribution of the commercial accounts.The RequirementsOur client is open to the candidates professional status. Yes, ideally we are seeking a qualified ACCA/ACA/CA, we have been advised that part qualified or qualified by experience candidates will also be considered. It is vital however that candidates need tohave a public practice background. Applicants need to be able to demonstrate that ability to interact with clients and offer them business advisory services. Our client is one of the most prestigious accounting brands in Scotland and as such we are seekinghigh calibre applicants.COVID19 statementThe COVID pandemic is changing rapidly at the moment and the clients that I represent will always work within the Scottish government guidelines. When restriction are relaxed, our client will be expecting the successful applicant to be based in theoffice on a blended working model. 60% in the office and 40% at home. If applicants wish to work longer in the office the option is available to them.
