Job Description

First Achieves Engineering Division have an exciting opportunity for a Buyer to join our clients manufacturing business in Edinburgh. Our Client is a privately owned business, operating primarily in the defence industries & have a global client base.The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that project specific goods and services are sourced, managed and delivered successfully to schedule, budget and quality. You will report to the Supply Chain Manager, and provide procurement interfaceto specific projects, as well as commodity management.Ideally, youll have strong commercial acumen, complimented with a technical background - extra points if its within Marine or Defence based products / materials.

  • Salary range is up to £42,000 per annum.
  • Flexible Working - offering a 4-day or 5-day working week.

What youll be doing:
  • Manage appointed procurement project interface(s) and commodities, with the principal target to ensure all relevant project procurement requirements are achieved to schedule, budget and quality.
  • Youll have sufficient technical awareness to support procurement and contract management of technical assemblies and supplies, including through design and qualification phases / first off production.
  • Provide awareness and understanding of appointed commodity areas, ensuring internal parties are informed on market, supply chain and technology opportunities and risks.
  • Provide clear support to appointed projects, ensuring project procurement requirements are understood, managed and achieved, through collaboration with relevant functions.
  • Proactively manage suppliers to support improved market understanding, contract management, risk mitigation and cost/efficiency maximisation and ensure suppliers are measured and managed to achieve contractual performance (e.g. KPIs).
  • Provide support in Pre-Contract activities as necessary for bid completion, including preparation, issue, and analysis of quotations.
  • With support, negotiate contractual terms to ensure supply solutions meet Customer requirements and contractual flow downs, with all risk minimised and managed.
What Were Looking for:
  • Youll have strong Contract & Supplier Management Skills.
  • Previous experience in using ERP systems, alongside being highly competent in using MS Office; including but limited to MS Project & PowerPoint.
  • Extensive experience in negotiation of contract terms.
  • Background in Defence related procurement would be highly advantageous.
