Job Description

Procurement Director£80-£100k plus bonus plus car plus benefits Norfolk/Hybrid (Must be willing to relocate to Norfolk)Our client is an award-winning maltster who have been established for over 150 years. They produce malted barley for breweries and distillers all over the world working in 4 countries across 7 sites.Due to continued growth, theyre now looking for an experienced procurement specialist to head up group barley procurement activities.This is a high-profile position representing this business across the world and will help shape the future and success of the business. This role will suit someone who understands grain, grain procurement and harvest cycles. Key Responsibilities

  • Procurement of all grain requirements across the group
  • Oversight of energy procurement across all sites
  • Negotiating and agreeing supply contracts with farmers up to 3 years ahead
  • Liaising with and supplying the sales team with up-to-date grain prices to calculate malt sales
  • Advising the board on domestic grain procurement, purchasing import requirements and pricing of forward supply
  • Working with transport manager to maximise efficiency of owned fleet
  • Oversight of 3rd party contracting of transport and ensuring profitability
  • Negotiating short-term and long-term agreements with 3rd parties for various combinations of drying / handling and storage of grain
  • Take on the senior commercial relationship with our strategic partners and key accounts, ensuring theyre the provider of choice for the long term
  • Represent our client in MAGB trade committee and other related bodies
Ideal candidate
  • You will understand grain, grain cycles and the purchasing of grain
  • You have a proven track record of negotiating business deals with both new and established suppliers
  • You understand risk, risk management and are a pioneer in risk reduction
  • You are comfortable in liaising with a sales team and managing pricing via LTAs.
  • You understand a full P&L and are comfortable discussing this at board level
  • You are a natural leader and managerwith the gravitas to work closely with the Group CEO and group MD
