Principal Veterinary PathologistPermanent Edinburgh£70,000 - £75,000Kelly Services have partnered with a global Contract Research Organisation and are keen to speak with experienced Veterinary Pathologists for a permanent opportunity based at our clients site in Edinburgh. As principal Veterinary Pathologist, you will be responsible for supporting the business by generating and interpreting pathology data from GLP, GMP, Target Animal Safety and discovery studies in a variety of test species. Working as part of a global team youwill be working with test items such as small molecule, large molecule, gene and stem cell therapies as well as medical devices. In determining the safety or efficacy of a test item we employ a variety of animal and in-vitro model systems and techniques suchas bright field microscopic analysis, IHC/ISH target detection, micro autoradiography, digital pathology and machine / deep learning based image analysis. Key Responsibilities: * Interact with clients to assure satisfaction and to market services. * Perform macroscopic and microscopic tissue evaluation and interpretation of assigned studies. * May assist with necropsy supervision and may conduct necropsies, including gross pathology interpretation, sample collection and fixation. * Write comprehensive report narratives detailing all test article effects. As needed, work with Study Directors to ensure data is accurately integrated into study reports. * Perform scientific review of reports * Function as a peer review pathologist or participate in a pathology working group (PWG) as a pathologist. * Regularly provide training, technical guidance and leadership to laboratory staff and to less experienced pathologists. * Serve as an expert consultant in pathology-related issues. * Provide expert scientific expertise for experimental design and other aspects of research studies as needed. * Participate in business development activities, including identification and development of new capabilities and potential areas of profitability. Present new capabilities to potential new clients and ensure current clients are updated. * Perform all other related duties as assigned. The successful candidate will have * Doctoral degree (BVM&S, BVSc or equivalent) from an accredited veterinary school, or acceptable international equivalent in veterinary medicine. * Significant pathology experience post-Veterinary Degree.; working knowledge of clinical pathology; specialized training and/or experience in toxicologic pathology required. * Board-certification required (FRCPath or Diplomate of ACVP, ECVP, JCVP, or JSTP) If you want to work for one of the globes leading brands within CROs, this is an excellent opportunity to join their team.
