With the development of a new nuclear power station on the horizon, our goal is to become the best andmost trusted energy supplier for our customers, through a combination of trust, transparency and teamwork.Join us as a Project Development Manager leading on the origination and development of onshore wind and solar PV projects.Based within the Onshore Wind and Solar PV Directorate you would be positioned within the Development team which contains ten experienced renewable energy professionals, the role is located in Edinburgh requiring the development of an exciting portfolioof projects across Scotland, the role will also include providing general development support to the wider EDF RUK business with some travel necessary.The role is initially for a period of 12 months, with an opportunity for extension.Day to day roles and responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring that you and those around you work safely to achieve Zero Harm and improve safety culture
  • Originating and developing large scale onshore wind and solar PV projects through to a project consent.
  • Finding and evaluating potential acquisition opportunities
  • Sourcing new sites through GIS skills, liaising with land agents or other activities.
  • Understanding what makes a viable project and increasing the competiveness of our projects
  • Negotiating heads of terms with landowners and land agents and subsequent option and lease agreements with internal and external legal resources
  • Responsible for submitting environmental and technical assessments to support the project feasibility and consent applications. Managing external consultants who will contribute to these activities.
  • Project managing the successful delivery of development projects as mandated the EDF RUK project governance process.
  • Manage relationships with third party developers within a project to ensure work is aligned and meeting agreed objectives.
  • Secure access for development projects to the grid to ensure long term financial viability of the project.
  • Budgeting and monthly reporting.
  • Challenging the business to improve performance
  • Understanding and interpreting renewable trends, including the impact of policy and legislative changes
  • Representing the team in key meetings both internally and externally, including dealing with the public, public officials and consultees
Key Skills
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a comparable position
  • University degree in Planning, Land or other environmental matters. Other appropriate qualifications may be considered.
  • Ideally town planning or environmental background experience in a local authority, consultancy or related development industry.
  • Experience of successfully delivering comparable projects in the renewable energy, electricity generation, land or planning sectors.
  • Knowledge and understanding of renewable energy development, in particular the associated environmental and technical constraints to development.
  • Understanding of what makes a viable renewable project successful and increasing the competiveness of our projects.
  • Strong team-player with good interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills.
  • Maintains knowledge of changing policy affecting our projects.
  • A commitment to ensuring the highest standards of project development, consultation and community relations at all times.
  • Willing to work on projects throughout the UK, including short stays away from the office.
  • An broad understanding of the Town and Country, NSIP and DNS planning processes in the UK
  • A commitment to EDF ERs HSE policies and an understanding of HSE and CDM requirements.
  • Ability to use GIS software is helpful, although not essential.
